Marciano shouldn't be on this list, and Vitali among 7 hardest punchers in HW history? It's ridiculous! Vitali was arm puncher that weared people down. Chris Byrd said Wlad hit 3 times harder comparing to Vitali, Phil Jackson (fought Wlad, sparred with Vitali), Kevin Johnson (fought Vitali, sparred with Wlad) and Mairis Briedis (sparred with both) all said Wlad was much harder puncher.

Even if we take the last 20 years, we will find a lot of heavyweights who hit harder than Vitali:

    - Wladimir Klitschko
    - Corrie Sanders
    - Lennox Lewis
    - David Tua
    - Samuel Peter
    - Lamon Brewster
    - Robert Helenius
    - Shannon Briggs
    - Deontay Wilder
    - Anthony Joshua
    - Hasim Rahman
    - Dillian Whyte
    - Alexander Povetkin
    - Bermane Stiverne

I bet a lot of people (like Martin Bakole for example) also hit harder than Vitali, I just brought title holders and contenders here.

Vitali was excellent fighter. He had very awkward style, good boxing IQ, huge size, incredible chin, good stamina. His power was also good, but it definitely wasn't his main weapon in the ring

That list seems to be made on the fly especially if it includes Vitali over Wlad, using ko records at a whim. Vitali's signature was the overhand cross, he battered Sanders and Briggs with that hitting them about 5,000 times each and couldn't put their lights out, if Wlad hit them with his hook they would be out. Wlad's record became saturated because he became ultra defensive when fighters discovered he had a chin made from paper-mache. Iron chinned Vitali didn't have this issue so he could continue to beat opponents into submission, not really knock them clean out.

I'd honestly be confident in saying that Herbie Hide hit harder than Vitali.

In reality you have 3 or maybe more styles or types of power punch. You have the signature power punch from the likes of Marciano and Wilder, there overall punching power probably not huge but that one off punch is devastating. You have ferocity and velocity power punchers like Dempsey and Tyson they hit you with a combo of power punches it cleans you out, I don't think they are amongst the hardest punchers as in how hard they punched but volume of hard punching yes. Anybody who fought or sparred Tommy Morrison and Tyson say Morrison hit harder. You also have heavy hands like Liston and Foreman who just had clubs for hands and jabs felt like power punches. That's without taking in other factors like accuracy, balance etc but I assume we are talking about a clean straightener.

I don't get the hysteria about Wilder's ludicrous haymakers, thrown from another planet. Any of us could pack a punch doing that.
He lacks technical skill and this overhand right is often thrown out of desperation, mostly against poor opponents.
Any fighter with a modicum of skill sees it coming and avoids

It depend what do you mean by " power ". effectivitity of the blow? precisitiy? some this power just as physical measure?
    Then it depends of course.
Tyson was a combo guy and didn't needed so tendermous 1 single punch physical power to stop the guy.
Dempsey combo, smaller size compensated stuff if he landed properly some from these punches.
Single punch raw power? Shavers definitely above Foreman and Wilder too, bearing in mind difference in punches amplitude vs effect.

    Result does matter, only this.

Did Opie just make an account to post his own article?

    Pretty sure he did.

Lennox Lewis was a devastating puncher. he belongs on the list

Marciano had plenty of KOs, but they were more of the break you down type variety

and as many have eluded to already, Vitali is an arm puncher at best, he couldnt even crack an egg

I’ll Just do a top ten
    Foreman
    Baer
    Shavers
    Tyson
    Liston
    Louis
    Marciano
    Lewis
    Wlad
    Tua
Like this list because they actually knocked out quality guys...maybe add smoking Joe Frazier or Dempsey. Hate putting guys like Brewster Briggs or wilder who essentially knocked out nobodies

This is more like it but I'd remove attrition punchers like Marciano and even speed guys like Tyson and Louis.... tho all those punched plenty hard.

    Worst post of the day.

Ladies and gentlemen, apparently "any of us" can be the next WBC Heavyweight Champion and put together 11 title defenses and five-year title reign ... we just need to throw "ludricrous haymakers" and we'll hit just as hard as he does.

It's so clear to me now. Thanks for posting. I didn't get it until now. (LOL)

Most of these list are really bad, but it’s a hard list to make as there are so many hard hitters in heavyweight history. I agree with bleacher reports list the most, but even then I’d switch up a few things
