Kostya was ''multi-dimensional'' (go ask Vernon Forrest RIP and Ben Tackie) and better than anyone Spence has ever fought let alone beaten and not only have we seen him dominate world class fighters his own size and bigger many times, we've seen him completely annihilate them, whereas conversely we've never seen Spence dominate an actual world class 147 pounder (and this is just FACTS speaking here) even though one of the tiny few he's fought (the grand total being just two) was damaged goods and coming off a bad beating, a stoppage loss, a terrible eye injury and gruesome surgery to repair it, and back down from two divisions North. And said damaged goods fighter was more than holding their own prior to that savage billy goat butt from hell in round 8 which shattered his orbital socket. Spence couldn't even wobble either of the Garcia's even though he literally threw everything bar the kitchen sink at them for 12 rounds straight and one of them is a 135 pounder and the other a 140. I remember watching Kostya absolutely destroy Jake Rodriguez in his first world title fight, the same Rodriguez who lasted the full distance against the great Tito Trinidad and he beat the living **** out of the teak-tough Miguel Angel Gonzalez who not only lasted the distance against the great De La Hoya but was reduced to employing some of the most dirty tactics the 140 pound division has ever seen and Koysta still beat the soul out of his body. Your boy Floyd rated Kostya extremely highly and a lot of those greats of that generation completely skipped 140 instead of knocking on King Kostya's door. I also remember watching Tszyu starching the great Zab Judah out in two rounds in his backyard, prime Zab would've beat the **** out of Spence with those slick skills and power of his. Tszyu was a hell of a fighter and I wouldn't mind so much if people just said they'd favour Spence because of sheer size, because Spence is essentially a natural 154 pounder (and not a small one at that) who has forged a career out of beating up on career 140 (usually complete featherfists) and 135 pounders and damaged goods broken faced Good Boys and Tszyu is a 140 and that if they were the same size as each other it would be a complete different story which is definitely would be if Tszyu was in his prime and at his best and at his best doesn't mean the Tsyzu who lost to Phillips just like the best versions of Duran and Tyson weren't the versions who lost to Kirkland Laing and Buster Dougals.
The laser-like accuracy of Tszyu's murderous right hand was incredible. In fact, his accuracy with both hands was and he was a lot faster than given credit for. This content is protected This content is protected
Nobody doubts that Tyzu was a truly great fighter however this fight at 147spells serious trouble for Tyzu. Spence is a combination of the fundamental skills sets of fellow Texan Donald Curry, the body snatcher Mike McCallum and the mindset mentality of Marvin Hagler. To say Spence would beat up Tyzu at 147 is not disrespect to Tyzu. EJ is a handful and would be competitive with anyone in history at 147 pounds. The size of Spence is a problem at 147 pounds for everyone but when you combine this with his physical strength, physicality, excellent boxing ability, stamina and athleticism . Danny Swift Garcia is tough tough fighter a boxer puncher in the true sense of the words but I have never seen anyone dominate and beat up on Danny the way Spence did.
Lashings of hyperbole there, Olu. E-Spence is a very good fighter but so far all he's proven against world class opposition his own size is that he's Shawn Porter level or ever so slightly above it and a notch above damaged goods Good Boy'd Broken Face Brook level. Sure his natural 154lb ass looks impressive against career 140 pound Paulie level featherfists like Algieri and Peterson who were or should've been 1-2 in their last 3 fights, and he can UD the hell out of 135 pounders fighting in their fifth division and one they have no right being in, and score a 7-5 or 8-4 type of decision against six-toed career 140 pounders, but truth be told he's yet to put in a dominant performance against anyone world class his own size let alone do anything to warrant being spoken about in that kind of exalted company lol. Lego Hair Garcia is a good, tough 140 pounder but he couldn't even stop a shot Zab who not only swept the last three rounds against him but hurt him too. Tszyu would absolutely wreck Garcia. Way too accurate, skillful, powerful, dynamic and talented. ''It was a hell of a fight. He's a crafty veteran with power. He hit me with a good shot in the eleventh, but I'm a true champion. Judah's the most craftiest and strongest fighter I've fought so far." - Danny Garcia in the post-fight interview And Garcia needed a gift from the judges to get past drunkard Roman Polanski lookalike Mauricio Herrera and two attempts to get a 4000 y/o Morales out of there and many feel he lost to Theophane too. Not to mention Lucas would've 100% beat his ass on a level playing field and Lucas is a poor man's Tszyu and I love Lucas.
He beat Matthyse fair square did DSG and Matthyse the bogeyman was never the same after. Yes Spence is very good and is in pursuit of all time greatness.
The thing I hate about these debates is the disrespect been throwing at quality fighters and quality people such as EJ Spence, DSG and the great Kostyra Tyzu. It was one of the great privileges of my life to watch the great man in his last fight at the G-M arena in Manchester against the relentless Ricky Hitman Hatton. Something a lot of people forget via that though Hatton(another great guy by the way) won prior to that Tyzu had given Hatton a boxing lesson in the earlier rounds. Saying Spence would beat Tyzu at 147 is not to say Spence is a greater fighter than all time great Tyzu. Is Hatton all time greater than art I? Of course not and not even Ricky thinks so.Time will tell once Spence’s body of work is finished and he is retired his status
He cracked him in the nuts about 50,000 times and I mean full power energy and strength sapping bombs not merely love taps - the kind that were hard enough to wobble Spence's 154 pound ass when they grazed his chin, USADA tested Lucas seven times in a week which is like totally not really shady or anything, and the Six-Toed Lego Hair freak had a bogus KD called in his favour by the corrupt home ref after shoving Lucas off balance into the ropes and then teeing off on him when he was tangled up between them which is illegal. Nothing fair about that fight at all. Yeah but you also pick Spence to beat Clenelo who he has been 'calling out' for years whilst hiding down at 147 beating up on 135 and 140 pounders lol
Yes I do pick Spence to beat Canelo. I will show him respect by calling Canelo not Clenelo as you refer to him and the Clenbuterol debacle. The fight will happen sooner or later.
