I was responding to a guy who is saying he “was there” while I was “1,000 miles away.” My point is on the particulars of Ike’s criminal side, you no greater perspective than I do since you weren’t there either.

Oh definitely, Ali too. I just think in the modern era theres more road blocks for fights being made. And if we look at Lennox's timeline I'm not even sure the Ike fight was possible or made sense. The Bowe fight was always going to be Lennox's missed legacy fight anyways. He could have dominated Ike, ike would stop popping up in could have/should have threads but we would always speculate how the Bowe fight might have played out.

He was a powerpuncher, was he not? He was dangerous, was he not?

Grant had a nice run to his title shot. A capable Izon, Golota, a 2 loss Sullivan, a 2 loss Savarese, Butler, Cole, Golota... Michael Grant was calling him the next great champ... He was dangerous from the power/size and from being a comer with an unknown ceiling. It was considered a dangerous match-up for Lewis.

Defused? Did you watch that fight? Tua put in an excellent performance. He had one loss going into the Lewis fight and was as dangerous a heavy on the scene. He would go on to KO Moorer and Oquendo.

Bruno was a belt holder so if Lewis wanted the belt he had to go through Frank. And if you recall Bruno had stopped Tyson in his tracks. Would you go against my assertion that Frank was a powerpuncher?

Ruddock was the favorite. Ruddock was seen as one of the more likely heir apparents to the throne. And again, are you going to refute the Ruddock was a dangerous powerpuncher?

Golota was beating the guy considered the best heavy in the world in back to back fights. Lewis waxed him.

OK, so are we sending in an unfocussed, undertrained Lewis to face Ike? That's not what the OP stated. How about we send in a focussed, Rahman2, version of Lewis. And then you tell me how much a chance Ike stands.

    Nothing but excuses.....

Lewis strictly beat left overs who other fighters before him beat the living shid out......the under focused and under trained excuse with Glass cannon Rahman ? You can send in a unfocused /undertrained Bowe or Tyson in and Rahman gets stopped ten out of ten no matter if he lands his right hand or not, Rahman is and was the definition of mediocre...............Lewis took King/Rahman to court instantly after he got wind that Rahman is trying to fight a shot Tyson because he knew that even a shot Tyson would wax that fool in a round ot two. fact

But , I should not have used the drinking slant at you, that was low class.

Ike was charged with ATTEMPTED **** of a hooker who claimed she only went to his room to dance for him ?? Yeah Right !! He never touched her she wasnt hurt in any way
It wasnt till this happened that the other women started coming out of the woodwork, Strange they never reported it at the time huh??
Ike's record should NOT have been an issue & anyway he'd not been convicted of anything ,
Now you can believe what ever you want because when all this happened you were probably still in diapers.I'm done with ya

I’m a little older than you think I am.

The THREE previous accusations all came before the first. The district attorney did not originally pursue the first Las Vegas accusation because he didn’t think he could make a case. When the Las Vegas arrest came to light, authorities in Arizona alerted Nevada authorities of the two accusations there, which came before the Las Vegas accusations.

Odd that four people would independently make up accusations against the same person.

Those were not brought up at trial because Ike pleaded to the charge for which he was arrested.

CJ likes to rush to the defense of controversial boxers and claims to "know them personally" (with no evidence) as his Trump card when he can't form a logical argument.

He does the same thing with Antonio Margarito and will argue for 20 pages about how he was completely innocent.

I can't tell if he just wants to sound special or wants to be a contrarian arguing points no one else will.

I believe he did know Ibeabuchi from the Texas area but is clearly bias when it comes to the subject.
Back on topic Ike eould have been a hell of a night for Lennox even in defeat.

Yeah he pled NO CONTEST which means he was not admitting to anything. He was conned into doing it as they had no proof only He said She said. Why didnt they persue the others afterwards. Ike always claimed innocence from day one but 14 months of harrassment & false promises made him weaken. I know who I believe in this case, a man who I'd known for years, or a Vegas hooker who claimed she " Only came to dance for him" are you that naive??

This is sweepingly dismissive for a bunch of different rationales. Not a convincing argument by any stretch.

The fact is that two championship fighters rarely meet at their absolute peaks. In fact, it almost never happens. It's an argument that could be made against Johnson, Jeffries, Marciano, Holmes, Ali, Frazier...
    The rest is unconvincing conjecture.

    No offense taken.

No all I want to do is defend people I'm certain are innocent of the charges brought against them. In Tony's case NO CHARGES were ever brought They couldnt bring charges they had no proof of wrongdoing there was never anything in his wraps to harm his opponent only his fists !!!
Same with Ike it was he said she said till they conned him into taking a no contest plea.
Neither charge would have held up they'd have been laughed out of court

So your position is like Ike’s — if someone is a prostitute, you’d saying they cannot be sexually assaulted?

    Just ****ing wow.

The plea agreement meant they did not pursue the other Las Vegas charge. That’s common in legal proceedings — they drop something but you plea to something else.

He was kept for 14 months because it was ruled up until that time he was not mentally competent to stand trial. They don’t turn crazy, violent people loose because, ‘well, he’s too crazy and violent to stand trail right now, so we might as well let him go.’ Once he was medicated for his mental illness by court order (he wouldn’t voluntarily take treatment) he got better enough that he was ruled competent to stand trial.

At that point, he participated in his defense. He did not plead ‘no contest’ because that’s not a plea. He agreed to an Alford plea, which is legal-speak for ‘I’m not going to admit it, but I do agree that there is enough evidence to convict me.’ He could have chosen to plead not guilty and stood trial, but that’s not a smart play when you’re admitting they have enough evidence to convict you.

He tried to kill himself and take a young boy with him. You literally posted earlier in this thread that ‘well the kid went everywhere with him, he adored Ike’ as some kind of twisted justification for having a child in a car with you when you run into a retaining wall on purpose at 65 mph — now tell me how you justify that. Tell me how he’s a good guy for doing that. Tell me how he wasn’t a danger to himself and others considering he crippled the kid for life with his selfish, insane action there.

And I’ve asked you to tell us some stories about what kind of guy he was. Be open and frank. You slipped that he needed help (saying his managers should have gotten him mental health help, but absolving Curtis Cokes, the one guy you say he would listen to, who apparently then never tried to get him help for his mental illness) — what did you see that made you think he needed this?
