Anything is possible, we've all seen crazy things happen. But, personally, I do not think Pulev has a hope in hell, I don't see this going past 4 rounds, but I think AJ might start a little cautiously.. once bitten and all that. I believe AJ sticks behind the jab for the first couple, he won't move like he did against Ruiz but he will be sensible and just box. Then AJ will start putting the right hand behind the jab and it's over.
I give Pulev about as much chance of beating Joshua as Bulgaria's football team beating the England football team. FYI last time they played England won 6-0 during last years EURO qualifiers.
Prime Pulev would have a better chance as Ruiz Jr, on account on his jab and ringcraft. Don't know about old Pulev though. Think he gets stopped in 8.
Styles make fights and AJ seems to be all wrong for Pulev. Has a very good left hook and we all know what Wlad did with the same punch.
I think joshua will go for it early an not fight scared stiff like against Ruiz purely because Pulev might get the better of the jabbing
Pulev is stylistically the perfect matchup for Joshua. Pulev is old, slow, doesn't move his head and doesn't pressure as well. On top he's not a heavy puncher for a big HW. If you look at Ruiz for example he's the total opposite of that. Pulev usually fights a low paced fight and i guess Joshua will like that. One thing he hates is if he's forced to fight at a high pace. Joshua should get past Pulev quite easily. The only question is if we'll see Joshua 2.0 who will use the safe path to victory or if we see the old Joshua who will brawl and take some risks at some point to get the stoppage. My prediction is Joshua by KO/TKO 7-10. But wouldn't be shocked if it goes 12 and Joshua repeating the Ruiz II performance.
Boxing is a warrior's sport. I will give you a better comparison. Bulgaria defeated the United Kingdom in WW1 at the battle of Doiran. Bulgarian forces were outnumbered 8 to 1. General Vazov led the Bulgarian Army. He was invited years later in 1936 by the British Legion. The British lowered their flags in his honour. "Lower the flags, General Vazov is passing by, the victorious from Doiran."
If AJ fights cautious like he did in the 2nd fight with Ruiz and tries to box him at range he could have more problems than expected. Klitschko laid the blueprint on how to beat Pulev, if you have superior firepower. Don't let him establish his jab and get into the fight.
The only guy who beat Pulev also went life and death with Joshua after an L aged 41 and 18 months out the ring. Pulev is better than Takam and in my view Ruiz Jnr. Needed a late Brit stoppage vs Takam and is 1-1 with the snickers king.
