This board sometimes make me chuckle
There is so much hate for AJ (and others) that people talk unadulterated rubbish
Its especially surprising when the board regularly denegrates supposed casuals and fanboys but the vey same detractors then post utter drivel.

Its boxing and especially in heavyweight boxing upsets happen. Thats why its exciting

In the first fight AJ was doing fine until he was hit by the high right hook to the top of the head
He never recovered his equilibrium after that -he was literally a sitting duck
If he had gone down stone cold there and then it would have been called as being an incredible knockout for Ruiz and left there
Instead he wobbled on and it took ages for Ruiz to put him away

He didnt moan about it - he congratulated Ruiz and deservedly so - on the night the better man won with the better punch effectively ending it

What seemed like most people here and elsewherer called him stupid for taking the rematch. He would be destroyed. He couldnt possibly box and move - he is the chinny robot - stiff and lumbering. Ruiz would get to him and it would be done. Career over - exposed - rubbish - overhyped etc etc

Where are all those people after the fight admitting they were wrong?

In the 2nd fight he did exactly what people said he couldnt. He boxed and moved. He schooled Ruiz with a display of boxing, footwork and movement that the above people claimed he was incapable of. Since that fight he has confirmed he wanted to stand and trade - he had Ruiz hurt but he had nothing to gain by doing that - he kept his head and dissected Ruiz. As regards Ruiz being out of shape, well - lets be honest - he always was. A boxer can only fight what is put in front of him.

Fury is lauded for employing exactly the same tactics and with much less offensive power thoughout a fight. He is brilliant at it and it works effectively

Many claim that Usyk is a master for the same reason - again he does whet he does so well

To defeat either you would have to neutralise their movement and drag them into an offensive war

So why such rubbish talked about the 2nd AJ v Ruiz fight? To beat him they knew that up close he has a wicked hook. He is brilliant in the clinches and very difficult to hold. So the taller man keeps distance, pokes his jab and neutralises Ruiz offensive ability. Its not rocket science - its the sweet science

We all have 'favourites' but its simply sad to either love people or hate people who probably none of you know to the point of blind stupidity.
If you cant stand the bloke thats up to you, but this is supposed to be a boxing forum not a beauty parade.

Dont even get me started on the complete crap spouted about Wilder - its beyond embarrassing.

    As you were....

This kind of reasoning makes anything possible . You can pick and choose what you want to be true and reality does not matter.

What a crock of ****. If he lost because he was outclassed or simply didn't show up, who cares?

Who cares if you have the potential to be the best, if you don't have the attitude then it's tough ****.

I agree. I always told people the most overrated quality in the world is IQ. A lot of people are smart, it is the motivation for anything which makes the difference.

Yes, but I wanted to remind who the real champion is, because AJ and almost everybody are still talking like AJ is THE champion and they talk about AJ vs Fury match, and nobody ever mentions about a 3rd match with Ruiz.

There is no harm with refreshing the memories and setting the records straight.

You aren't reminding anyone of anything but your delusion. No body talks about a third because Ruiz came in like a disgrace. Get over it....

I don't think so. Ruiz was again the aggressor in the rematch. He landed more meaningful and powerful punches than Joshua. The judges' scorecards were ridiculous.

So, you admit nobody mentions Joshua-Ruiz III. Zero interest, from anybody but you. Why do you think that is?

The instant rematch contract clause is something I've never liked and I think it should be outlawed. A promised and sanctioning body ordered rematch that includes stripping if ducked is a different beast, but instant contract rematch on a stoppage loss when the loser controls the venue and purse should have a restraint of trade attached. That said, Ruiz let himself down horribly by coming in like marshmallow man.

Agreed. Importantly, rematch clauses tend to go one-way as well, favoring the A side/cash cow of the card. Either get rid of them or figure out a way to mandate them for only very close results.
