An hour and a half? Ain’t nobody got time for that.

I can sum it up for you in twenty seconds. Calzaghe was elite, never left the UK to prove it, broke his hands, changed his style, slapped the hell out of Jeff Lacy and rode off into the sunset with his true first love.

    Cocaine.

He also beat a shot to hell Roy Jones jr. in 2008

Don't forget, he was the first white boy to beat Hopkins. Kovalev and Joe Smith just improved on it.

I knew his hands were bad, but I didn't realise there was literally fights where he did zero sparring.
    World title fights.

Not throwing a punch at another human being from the end of one fight to the start of the next. Amazing

I wasn’t directing that comment at you. No intent to offend you. Just quoting Bernard Hopkins in a tongue in cheek manner. Link below, in case you need context.

in hopkins' prime he was right.
joe's timing when landing on US soil was not a coincidence.

I think prime Roy would’ve beaten Calzaghe. Hopkins would’ve done better, but not 100% certain he’d have beaten Joe. The issue is Hopkins’s ignorant statement. The highlight reel KO to Joe Smith, Jr. must be a bitter pill for him to swallow.

agreed. i have no sympathy for hopkins after saying something as foolish and irresponsible as that.
i fancy hopkins would've won a UD over calzaghe if joe had decided to find out. remember, hopkins was 42 (?) when he fought joe, and it was still a SD.

Never had a heart either. His dad had to slap him into into taking the Lacy fight. Calzaghe wanted to pull out because of a mild hand injury. He was a regular bottle job until he discovered his heart after the Lacy fight and started to believe in himself more.

He only took risks in his back garden and against ageing fighters well beyond their prime.

    Ward would have spanked him.

He was a Euro level fighter until the stars aligned for him and made him look elite.
