There was no rehydration clause for the Kovalev fight... until it was leaked right before the fight. They had a non-disclosure. 4 weeks from announcement to fight night. Fight week = travel to TX, deal w/ jet lag, media obligations, staying loose, maintaining weight. So it's 3 weeks, unless you think Smith will be sparring and training hard every day leading to the weigh in? Put on your thinking cap and THINK before you respond.
Announcement of the fight doesn´t mean that Smith started training then and there. Fact is you don´t know how long Smith had been training for and in what kind of a shape he was in when the negotiations started. And yes, boxers still train on fight week. And don´t act as if Canelo doesn´t have to do any of it. He was preparing for a fight, but he didn´t know who he was fighting. It all comes down to how prepared Smith was before the Alvarez fight was presented to him. And where did you get the non-disclosure from? But like I said:
