The phrase "Euro level fighter" should be an antiquated term considering how many Europeans currently hold championships from Heavyweight to Middleweight. After all, there is no higher level than the championship.
And can you imagine if his hands weren’t such a problem, he’s the best super middle of all time anyway still
Euro level is localised to Euro level. World level is world level. If someone breaks out of Euro level and the Euro bubble they're on the world stage. Not every fighter can make the transition. Calzaghe did....but it took almost a decade for him to find that level.
more miles on the clock? this was hopkins' 55th pro fight... and calzaghe had just come off the best win of his career (kessler), while this was hopkins' 3rd loss in 5 fights. you're trying to make excuses for the fact that calzaghe only went to the US to make this fight (and roy jones) when both jones and hopkins were dethroned, past prime and losing as many as they were winning. that's far removed from a time when jones and hopkins were kings, and a host of european fighters (including joe of course) had no intention of crossing the pond and challenging them. to quote chris eubank, "fighting a prime roy jones would have been suicide".
Barely any American fighters are comfortable fighting outside the US, why is it wrong for Joe to stick mostly to the UK?
assuming you're defending joe, is another "certainty" ottke's record? see my post earlier in this thread regarding these two and tell me where i am wrong.
because fighting in the US is how fighters get their career defining fights. warren knew this, but he also knew that getting 'a belt' and defending it at home against stiffs produces 'undefeated world champions'. sounds good, doesn't it? and there's a lot of $$$ to be made doing it.
I'm not really a JC fan but that was a great documentary. Both JC and his farther were very honest and open. I reccomend watching.
