How many times was James Toney actually badly hurt?

    Was just watching his fight with Jirov and he was staggered a couple of times, the commentators said he was hurt but it seemed to be more slipping on the wet floor.

    Was trying to recall times when he got really hurt in his career.

    Johnson hurt him bad. That’s the only instance I recall. Maybe one of the Peter fights? You’d have to ask someone who’s actually seen them to get more information. I feel like I’ve heard it said.

    Reggie Johnson hurt him when he dropped him. I think Roy may have hurt him to the body.

    Sam Peter hurt him with some forehead/temple shots.

    I dont recall Jirov ever hurting Tiney. that fight was called as if it were a life and death battle, but I remember it more as a dominant effort by Toney.

    i didnt catch the Reggie Johnson fight so I cant comment on that, but I dont recall RJ ir Peter ever seriously hurting Toney. more like a stun or a stagger, but nothing were Toney was on the brink

    The only one who ever really hurt Toney was the baker who closed the shop and wouldn’t reopen when James showed up a few minutes late for his late-night donut raid.

    I agree he was only seriously hurt against Reggie and Peter.He was not in serious risk of being stopped on those occasions in my opinion

    Silva had him in some jeopardy but it was such a lower-level fight I don't blame anyone for not knowing about it. It was one of the reasons people didn't think he'd beat that one guy who went to prison later. Because he'd already had his bell rung like all over the place by this other dude.
