Exactly, that kind of streak virtually always means you've been fed pablum with an eye towards using the streak (rather than your ability/potential/substance) to market you and maneuver towards a cash-out versus a name.

Wouldn't mind seeing a bareknuckle 4-rounder 'exhibition' of Berlanga vs. Canelo, tbh..

i think top rank will guide berlanga to a paper tile while keeping the first round ko gimmick, without facing serious opposition

Yeah, at this point they're in for a penny; wouldn't make sense to deviate now.

That's what I don't get, they don't have Canelo, Benavidez, Plant, Smith, or (in the future) Jermall so who does he cash the check against?

True, but strictly from a scientific curiosity POV, that would be an excellent control experiment to plomb the depths of where his power rates. If he could wipe out Gabe, and early, then...yeah. Whatever else he is, we could say for sure that he's a guy with nukes attached to his wrists.

they can always put him in the zurdo ramirez path. pick a belt and then face bottom of the barrel opponents for years before moving up in weight.

My only worry with Nakatani now is that he did retire and 'lose his passion' for the sport before returning, so...

Nakatani that fought López beats Verdejo, no doubt.
