I was massively impressed with him last night. I appreciate it was only Wach but Wach is more than capable of making a fighter look bad. He made Whyte look like what he is for example. Hughie showed a few extra dimensions that he’s never shown before. He fought on the front foot, the back foot, orthodox, southpaw, and he demonstrated a few times that he’s developed some power. I’d pretty much washed my hands of him after the Povetkin fight but I’m back on board the Hughie train now. Well done lad!
The most pleasing thing for me was he could have took an early way out because of the cut and took an easy points win but he didn’t, he stuck in there regardless of the cut. You could see how much he wanted it.
Totally agree, Hughie fought hard and well. Fair play to him. He showed he deserved a place on the card.
His record against known and common opponents suggests he's on the same level as Dillian Whyte at least. And look how much hype Whyte gets.
Definitely more aggressive. Wach was the perfect opponent for him. Dubois should use him as a comeback opponent. was that the same cut that Hughie had against pulev? If so then that’s not great. Could be a problem in future
Wach is Hughies best win whilst Whyte has more impressive wins against Parker, Rivas, Chisora x 2 and Helenius. That's why Whyte should get top recognition as he had the resume to back it up. I thought Hughie had by far his most impressive peformance last night. Actually fought offensive rather than came to spoil and clinch. Hughies hands looked the quickest I've seen them and he put combinations together than I've ever seen him.
Hughie Fury's eye problems are a concern. If they can be dealt with the boy could still become a world champion in the future. He has good boxing IQ, fitness, great chin. jab and is as tough as ****. His offence is coming along great. Boy fought his first 12 pro fights for no money and fought Parker for no money, just to try and be a World Champion. People should support him and get behind him. Would love him to fight Chisora next but doubt Chisora will want it, as he only wants hard fights if he is a ppv headliner.
I'd point out ..... Parker's fights against Hughie and Whyte could have gone either way. Helenius was good about 10 years ago. Yes, Whyte has a "better resume" than Hughie but he had nothing to back up actual "top recognition". I'd rate him above Hughie on the rankings, but he's at the same level generally.
I had Parker winning against Hughie edging the majority of the close rounds of a horrible fight and therefore comfortably on points. I had Whyte winning comfortably on the scorecard against parker even ignoring the KD that shouldnt have counted. However had there be one more Round Parker would KOed Whyte and I would back Parker in the rematch as he grew with confindence in the fight.
Yeah he definitely didn't, a knockdown via a headbutt, Kebab Shop Knockout King/Chicken Corner Brawler tactics, flying around all over the place and hanging on for dear life at the end, it was a mess and a sign of things to come.
Whyte concussed him with a head butt and was ten or twenty second from being stopped. I too would fancy Parker in a rematch (cant see it happening though).
I've always been a supporter of Hughie, granted his fights aren't the most exciting but he is an excellent boxer. Like many have already said, I was really impressed with him last night. Would love to see him against Chisora.
