Probably a secondary health issue made worse by Covid. Hope he retires and is healthy. God bless that man.

Hilarious if Whyte doesn't get a rematch.

    Povetkin hater detected.
You are hypocrite and biased fan in internet.
If you think that said boxing org minor tittle is a paper tittle, then major tittle too is paper tittle.

Regards to minor tittle, Whyte's resume too is nice, like this fight:

No that's not true. I enjoy reading posts that don't share my view. It makes me think & sometimes even alters how I see something.
I think it takes courage to be a professional fighter & I don't think its right to attack a fighter personally,
eg calling Ruiz fat or AJ a bodybuilder.

Good post man. the way he straight away agreed to the rematch & didn't try a wiggle out of it was classy. If the shoe was on the other foot I doubt it would have been the same.
To try and say he was faking Covid to get out of the rematch was disrespect that was not called for at all.
Hearn & Whyte thought he was an easy mark & he ended up making fools of them.
I hope he retires, & if he does Whyte is a pretty good scalp to go out on.

Damn poor Povetkin, I hope he recovers fully but I can't help but think this probably ends his career. It could take him months to get back to any kind of decent shape if he's a long hauler and that's a long time in boxing at his age to be inactive.

Whyte's response lacks class but I can understand his frustration having lost the way he did and he now feels cheated of a chance to redeem himself. But damn you don't say that **** publicly even if you are thinking it. He needs to learn to think before he speaks because this only makes him look bad, inventing conspiracy theories like he's Deontay Wilder or something.

I wish him a speedy recovery. The little interest I had left in this rematch is all but gone now.

Yeah. They know at his age he'd be better off getting some rest between training camps. Whyte was being rushed back in but, despite the KO defeat, his capacity to train and recover at 32 is much better suited for a quick turnaround than the 41 year old veteran's.

Part of me hopes Povetkin's covid issues are being exaggerated precisely because he wants to be well rested and wants the best possible training camp, and to scupper Whyte and Hearn's plan to get him worn out, but I really don't think that's the case, unfortunately. He is really sick.
And anyway, with or without Covid, he was pretty much a shot fighter with about 3 good rounds in him against any decent strong heavyweight.

The problem is the age, the weight he lost(a lot of it), and now at that advance age its very hard to get that weight back. I mean its not hard to get the weight, but its hard to get the functional muscle mass he had. He will need a 1+ year to fully be back in shape, and he will be even in worst shape, cause he will be even older.
Povetkin either needs to retire or have 1-2 goodbye fights in his country. He should not fight at top level again after all.

    Thanks. No it wouldn't have.

I think Povetkin would take the fight even if he hadn't recovered fully. He's a very proud, stoic no nonsense type of guy and a certified warrior and a gentleman too and Whyte is bang out of order here. I'd rather see Povetkin retire because he's way past his best as it is and even if he wasn't he shouldn't even be contemplating fighting until he's fully recovered.

Lol, Whyte is secretly relieved. Think about it, he had to ask for a rematch to look tough, and now he got out of it at no fault of his own so he can talk ****. To be fair, he probably did want it, but this isn't the worst outcome for him

Povetkin is going to shatter that Glass Jaw all over again. Why is there even a rematch? First fight was as clear of a result as you can get.
