Haye hit like a truck and more than hard enough to KO AJ. Haye was an injury-ravaged mess against Bellew. And Bellew has always been a big puncher. He was a big puncher in the amateurs up at HW and a big puncher down at LHW and up at CW in the pros. He has a nasty left hook.
It's no disrespect to AJ, prime Wlad was just an absolute monster offensively and he'd just be too powerful, fast and technical for him.
Only one of the KDs in the Peter fight were legit, IIRC. Same goes for Wlad vs Povetkin. And prime Peter had ridiculously heavy hands and a granite chin. The insanely tough Marion Wilson who fought a who's who of the HW division including tons of punchers said Peter was the hardest puncher he ever fought.
Joshua was an inexperienced 19 fight novice when he fought Wlad. . Wlad himself said AJ was taking the fight too soon and that he was getting him at the right time. He was too heavy as well at 250lbs. . He hasn't weighed in that high since. Since that fight Joshua has come on leaps and bounds. He's smarter and way more experienced. His fight IQ has improved. He isn't prone to gassing as he comes in lighter. He is showing new skills in every fight such as the slip and counter right hand he threw to stagger Pulev Klitschko's fight IQ was always overrated. He isn't a thinker in the ring. He fights to a script and if that script doesn't work he is lost. It never dawned on him to throw a single body shot at Joshua before and after he gassed out. Yet he ranted on all pre-fight about how experienced he was. Joshua's stamina issues were still fresh in people's minds back than after his fight with Whyte. It was actually the novice Joshua who went to the body early in that fight. I would say prime Wlad has more of a chance against AJ than he does Fury , but id still pick the more varied guy who has proven to successfully implement different gameplans over Wlad the one trick jab and grab merchant who falls asunder when he's under attack.
Well we saw Wlad Klitschko who had been inactive for 17 months give Joshua hell. Klitschko was very rusty the first 5 rounds or so and still was able to put Joshua down. I've never seen Wlad miss so many left hooks in a fight. I don't think he landed a single one and it wasn't because Joshua moved out of the way Wlad just was off on the timing and accuracy. Joshua won fair and square.
Joshua smokes him ever faster this time. prime Wlad was getting starched by the likes of Brewster and hanging on for dear life against Peter. Joshua would likely close the show in 3. wlad was a height bully. nothing more, nothing less.
Obvious ulterior motive to make this thread by Isal, but fine. The obvious answer is Wlad cause he was old and came close to a KO win. But I think AJ was green. He is more risk averse now, that might actually help him beat Wlad without getting caught as he did. To anyone who disagrees, this happened to Wlad himself. He was young, less risk averse and got KO'd a few times. He then corrected some stuff and it's fair to say the outcome of his losses could have changed had he fought those guys after having fully developed his new style. And those were losses, AJ actually won. If you think it's impossible AJ wins, then there's no way Wlad could have beaten those he lost to. Can't have it both ways. Even less chance Canelo beats Mayweather (Canelo was green but Floyd wasn't prime but the fight was nowhere near close). Moreover, even a younger Wlad with his cautious style fully developed might have had trouble with the same version of AJ cause he always reacted badly to getting hit.
You say this yet ignore Glass Jawed Joshua getting smoked and quitting against Andy Ruiz who is not any different than Peter Don't remember Wlad quitting in any fight and certainly not against an obese opponent.
There's being patient, and then there's being too patient. We can only guess at what might have been if Wlad jumped on Joshua after the knockdown (which was an extremely heavy shot): This content is protected
Its hard for me to say. Maybe a more cautious Wlad allows AJ to stay around long enough and gets caught. Maybe a more aggressive Wlad walks into more AJ offense. Maybe AJs better than when he fought Wlad. Maybe AJ will continue to improve. I think people tend to not give credit to just how good Wlad looked that night. All that being said... given the nature of their fight, its improbable to believe a younger Wlad wouldnt do better.
Exactly, wlad has fought exactly the same most of his career, his style doesn’t really change with age
Tbh If we pit Prime Klitschko against 2017 Joshua then Clearly Klitschko with mid-high difficulty against Aj But Joshuas gotten better since then and is arguably still getting better. From what we can tell he'll probably reach his absolute peak at 33 or 34 before declining. We'll have to see what Joshua shows in the Fury fight
