all true but he hits like a featherweight while Lewis hits like a truck and isn’t without good reach, a superb jab, natural size and agility himself. Lewis is too much for Fury!
Fury has showed thru his career that opponents respect his power. Look at Fury-Chisora 2 just for an example. At 270 pounds he has more than enough of heavy hands to stop his opposition.
I think Lewis in the late 90s, when he still had most of his youthful athleticism but also the benefits of working with Manny, was a fairly horrific matchup for anyone, Fury included. A superb blend of just about every attribute you'd want in a heavyweight. Sure, I'd pick Wilder II standard Fury to beat the old (2000s) or pre Manny (up to and including McCall I) Lewis, but I'd pick the peak Lewis referred to above over any version of Fury.
Toss up But I would take Lewis more often than not over Fury Fury has better stamina so he might be able to pull of a decision late over an older version of Lewis.
Yes, though that's not a fight I particularly care to remember. Big George knocks it out of the park [especially by the standards of the time] with his sympathetic comments towards McCall, everyone else [other than possibly Manny] not so much. But even in a bizarre non-fight you can see how ridiculously fluid Lewis's movement is for such a big man, for this he weighed in slightly heavier than Joshua does nowadays despite Lewis being slightly shorter, but the difference in the way they move is night and day, that jab in particular is sheer poetry.
Or what about this Lewis: 1998 version 243 pounds 82 inch wingspan against tall but only 214 pounds Mavrovic: This content is protected I think I prefer Fury over this version of Lewis.
Lennox Lewis fought multiple Super Heavyweights. Absolutely destroyed Andrew Golota, send Michael Grant to the afterlife, whooped Derek Williams, ran through Tyrell Biggs, beat Tony Tucker, instilled fear in Henry Akinwandes heart, brutalized Calvin Jones and carved a masterpiece on Vitali Klitschkos face when he was 37 years old and overweight. And those are just the 6'4+ SHWs. He fought multiple other short but 235lb+ heavy men
Tyson Fury was being out boxed and got knocked down by light punching 180 pound Steve Cunnigham. Lewis would smash him like he beat Andrew Golota. Fury running from a old washed up Wlad and beating hype job Deontay Wilder doesn't even make Fury a good fighter. He is just lucky to be in such a joke era. This era is so crappy that we praise Andy Ruiz and call a 6'0 260 pound lard but in shape. This era is so poor that we praise guys like Deontay Wilder for knocking out club fighters like Dominic Breazeale.
My money would go on Lennox Lewis. I love watching Fury fight, but I'll take Lennox by UD. I think Fury will taste the Lewis power and go cautious from there. Not that I blame him, not at all. Lennox was a real ATG.
I it’s funny how Lewis gets a lot of hate but when he’s matched against a modern fighter people act like he’s invincible.
At the moment I'd take Lewis on pedigree. I feel he's far more tested against better opposition than Fury is. I think Fury would be awkward for him to deal with at first but, just as Wlad realised in the 12th of their fight, you have to turn on the taps to fight Fury. You can't play the tap-tap-tappety-tap outside game with the big man or he'll drag you into his web and wrap you up and eat you. I think Lewis would realise this and up the pace and win.
Lewis sparks him out by the 10th. Fury is very good when hes on form but Michael Grant 2.0, 40 year old Wlad and Del Boy are not Lennox.
