Plant will outbox canelo like lara did only worse. Props to plant for not taking a short notice fight with canelo or letting him bully him in negotiations.

This whole thing about "deserve" a shot is total bull****. This is sport. This is boxing. Deserve has got nothing to do with it. If there is a guy in your division who thinks he can kick your ass then bring it the **** on. That's what this is all about. Remember when people said Lopez didn't "deserve" a shot at Loma? Look at how that turned out. Loma ran away. Bunch of big crybabies and hypocrites cuz they say that the best don't want to fight the best. And now Lopez said he wants Josh Taylor, but the "fans" say he doesn't deserve it. What is this deserve bull**** anyways?

Same thing with Caleb Plant. "Deserve" a fight with Canelo or whoever is a bunch of trash. Just fight.

Truax is always tough as nails IMO
The guy is way past his prime but a good step up for Plant who needs to be bullied and tested by a crafty guy and this will work.

I think Plant, with some seasoning, will make an entertaining fight with Canelo down the road. Plant is just not there yet

I would pick Canelo to win by KO, but Plant has about a 40 percent chance of outboxing Canelo. Plant is a mover and slickster. Canelo doesn't like boxers.

Known in the UK after beating Degale in a huge upset at the time

Seeing how Truax's last notable fight against a past his best Quillin ended in a premature no contest, it's impossible to gauge where he's at now. This could either be a decent title defence or a total joke. But yeah, he's not well known. Somehow still reasonably well regarded as a contender.

Honestly I don't know how else to call Truax. The guy is 37, only claim to fame is a MD win over DeGale who was a shadow of himself, and also beat Truax in rematch and retired few fights later. Prior to that Truax was KO'd in 1 round by Anthony Dirrell who himself is nothing close to elite right now, also stopped by Jacobs who also appears to be semi-washed. On top of that, Truax is not even rated top 20 or 25, he is #43!

So I don't know how else to call a 37 year old guy that's never been great to begin with, was stopped multiple times in his career and is currently rated #43. Definitely not a contender, barely a gatekeeper for young prospects perhaps? Either way not somebody who should be fighting for any kind of title, but since it involves Caleb Plant, nothing but journeymen/gatekeepers can be expected.

Mike Lee is #99 at SMW, that's everything you need to know.
