Baer had the power, the sledgehammer overhand right to put down giants.

I don't think Wilder could evade him long. Baer would hunt down Wilder and end things faster than Fury did.

How would Baer vs AJ, Baer vs Fury (and other top HWs) play out? I am talking about the focused killer Baer, not Clown Baer.

Baer would be destroyed by any of the top 5 heavies today, he had no defense Wilder would have sparked him quick, he never faced a heavyweight with Fury`s long jab, reflexes and movement, he might have had a slight chance v AJ.

Disagree, Max would have them running scared....he was a giant killer with an iron jaw, a force of nature when motivated. Dempsey himself said Baer had "terrible power"

I wouldn’t pick anyone from the 50s and below to be the Undisputed Heavyweight champ today.

His defense wwas too reactive, he wasn`t active enough before a punch was thrown , al modern fighters would do is feint him to flinch him and then land a differrent shot, basic boxing, Fury would jab his head off, he was so easy to hit, at 6'2.5 Baer was too short and didn`t know how get inside without geting tagged, at that height his style of standing on the outside and waiting for oponenings just wouldn`t work and he was too slender to beat the likes of AJ without superior boxing skills.

Louis would have had the best chance because of his punch variety and hand speed.

I doubt it, I think he’s too small and doesn’t have the chin, defense, or foot speed to compete with the skilled super heavyweights of today.

I agree with the others, Baer had much power but his trap setting was dependent upon his size advantage...
The single "giant" he killed was Carnera, who was super strong but very stiff & limited in skill & technique as a boxer.

Max would lose a decision to Fury but maybe get a ko win over AJ.
Him and Wilder, I see a couple of fights between em like Tyson v Ruddock, with Wilder taking decisions.

He could maybe win a regular belt. I see him beating Whyte, Takam, Chisora & some others...

Baer is a threat in any era.

He wasn't going to box you. He knew what his strengths were, he had damaging power that could hurt anyone, quick feet to attack or circle back, a durable chin, and long right hands that could hit anyone over the top but we're so loopy you couldn't tell if he was going high or low. He was all about drawing you into a shoot out while keeping you confused. Not pretty boxing but an effective application of his attributes. A wild card for sure due to his injuries and seemingly bipolar mood swings but damn, nobody is fighting him unless they have to.

I think Fury is mentally tough enough to out point him, but Baer at his best is a more confident, meaner, and durable Wilder. I'm not betting the house.
