I always thought Chepulis was a Soviet . My mistake

regardless, the Soviets weren’t dominating heavyweight olympics. US and Cuba were.

Has nothing to do with Golota, the K bros, etc. who do well as ams and came later.

Golota was 217 pounds when he turned professional, aged 24.
Two years later he was about 235+

At age 21, Golota was still fighting in the "heavyweight" amateur class, he was not a "super heavyweight".

While you might expect a man to put on a few pounds from age 21 to age 26, fill out a bit, I think 40 pounds (20 or more after turning 24 !) suggests a deliberate strategy of weight gain to some extent, and PEDs, etc.
Rather than Golota being naturally 235+ fighter.

This. Worth it to have the size advantage in a shorter fight than trim down for stamina. Manny Steward using putting the Hearns blueprint onto the next generation of heavyweights. Riddick Bowe was Eddie Futch's last monster and learned to fight from the inside out. That's as much a credit to Futch as Bowe who largely wasted these skills.

Jimmy Ellis put on 45 lbs (from Carter to Frazier) after turning 24. Do you think, this was thanks to PEDs?

Between 28-31 I've gained about 40 lbs, pretty good amount of it is muscle too. I'm decidedly not on steroids. Quite the opposite in fact.

    Probably not PEDs.
But I don't consider much more than "a natural light-heavy" and he probably dieted down to 160 in the first place.

Also, he deliberately bulked his weight up to compete at heavyweight, which is precisely what I'm saying of Golota.
PEDs are just an aside, but, yes, of course everyone here 'gun-to-their-head' would guess Golota was a user.

I take it you deliberately did so (diet - protein, calories - weight training), which is my point. Rather than just naturally grow.

Nope. Changed careers. Went from living in a sauna to picking up heavy things. Completely by accident but still happened.

If you look accross the board in all sports the atheletes are getting bigger stronger and more coordinated at the same time. You now see high school football players the size of professionals and they are not from PEDs. Its part of the evolution, and the additives in foods these days that are creating bigger stronger people at younger ages.

    What would those additives be?

What you described is certainly not epigenetics. You were pretty far off from what it actually is. Don't go on boxing forums for biology advice thats for sure.

This is completely false and you're basing this off of nothing. High School football players are not the size of NFL players. You need to seriously wake up.

The amount of ignorance and pure stupidity in this thread is astounding. I take it not everyone here graduated high school in 4 years did they?
