Doesn't matter how right his gameplan is, if he doesn't knock Canelo TFO there's no way he gets the decision.
If somehow Canelo doesn't beat Smith, the judges will do it for him.

If John Ryder can find a way past Callum Smith's jab. If John Ryder can find a way to the inside given the reach disadvantage he had. Then you had better bet your bottom dollar that Canelo can.

Theoretically the way for Callum Smith to win the fight is to keep it long, use his reach advantage to keep Canelo on the outside on the end of the jab. Then tie Canelo up on the inside or pivot away if the distance is closed.

However this would take some serious athleticism and foot work from Callum to be able to execute for 12 rounds. Against the p4p 1 best boxer in the world today, it is a huge ask to execute in practice. Even if he is much more on form for this fight than he was for the Ryder fight.

Rarely are there quality tall fighters.Thomas Hearns was one of them and he fought guys with his height and knew how to use leverage. But Smith is not Hearns. Canelo has that body of Smith to hit. If Smith can 6 rounds or more I think that is something interesting. I hope he uses his jab and goes to the body a little and maybe can land the uppercut.. If he puts his punches together with his height it will be interesting, I just don't see it being that easy for him.

Don't let Canelo get on the inside. Jab with authority, don't be lazy and anticipate a counter off your jab and time uppercuts.

This ain't gonna happen though.. Canelo probably stops him.

Well, Boxing before Foxing, remember that. If you make her wait for a date or cut your date short because you need to tend to your hobbies, I almost guarantee you, she will want you that much more.

    Points. Canelo.

Smith rehydrates to a larger size than Kovalev and he is younger too so he should be able to keep Canelo at bay with more than just a jab. I see his right hand finding the target too occasionally.

That said, Canelo's skills are on another level.

I think Smith will be a very very game adversary.

Please God, pleasemake Canelo-Beterbiev to make up for a shitty 2020

I tend to leave girls wanting haha, never been one to throw myself at them desperately. I'm quite the tease. Get me drunk enough though and I'll plow in a heartbeat.

Smith does have the tools physically. However, I doubt he will use them in a correct manner, skill-wise. He is a very basic fighter with massive physicality. Smith relies a lot on catching and shooting - not good against a slick, smaller body puncher. It is best for him to make it a physical attrition battle IMO, as otherwise Canelo will make himself smaller and take away his jab, then pound his body. The only problem Canelo might face is with how long it would take to cut smith off, as Ryder had faster feet. But Smith has never been a fighter to really use constant angles and positioning laterally. In fact, he doesn't use his feet much at all. Canelo will get to his body early, within 4 rounds. He is perfect style-wise to get to Smith. The only question is physicality. Smith is huge at the weight and that is what makes him dangerous.

Can somebody direct me to a fight of Smith's where he boxed effectively from distance using his jab against a capable fighter that was applying pressure?
The fight glimpsed at vs Ryder, Smith was having a hard time keeping Ryder at distance.

My estimate is that this fight with Smith while difficult early, will be easier for Canelo than the Kovalev fight. Kovalev being a fighter with a stiff strong jab that is able to control distance with that jab. From the little I've seen of Smith, he does'nt have the type of jab like Kovalev that could control a fighter the caliber of Canelo.
