I'm very confused what you mean. I'm firmly in canelos corner but if I feel he lost and there are dodgy cards I can say what I like.
So you think Smith will keep Canelo at the end of his jab? ..........or do you think Smith is capable of winning a firefight on the inside. I'll say this about Canelo, his defense if upper echelon, alot of people dont take that into account. He's likely to make Smith lead and Canelo will be slipping, dipping, and sliding while he effectively counters Smith. Doubt very highly that Smith has faced anyone remotely resembling the type of defense that Canelo is capable of. How do you see Smith being effective vs Canelo?
I do see smith being effective with the jab especially early on. Smith has good skills and will not be easy to figure out. Canelo has his hands full tommorow night.
I hope you're right and we get to see a great fight. .......you watch if Canelo wins and even if he does it emphatically by KO, hoards in this forum will be criticizing and pointing to that Smith was a bum to begin with.
I think Callum is overlooked and not given the respect that he truly deserves. The Ryder fight was very close and I still think that Callum won, He was unmotivated for this fight, I believe he will be at his very best, and will be just too much for Canelo, he has that lightning quick shot to freeze his opponents out of nowhere. Callum is a guy who is so calm yet spiteful in the ring, and very skillful, will Reynoso pull his man out because I can see Callum dishing out a beating and mean it.
I think too much is made of the Ryder fight. Yes Ryder had success on the inside and very easily could have been the recipient of the decision. But Ryder did not have an easy time of it and he would be the favourite in a rematch. All we really learnt is a committed inside attack can disrupt the flow of a tall lanky fighter, which isn't something new to learn, it's just not something we would have felt Ryder could do. Can Canelo pressure inside? He usually the bigger man and his pressuring attempts against Floyd, Trout and Lara haven't been globally recognised as his best performances. Against Kovalev he fought mid range, timing punch for punch. And tbh I felt he lost every second of the fight until the ko round. Smith won't gas like that. Canelo can't chin Smith like that. Smith isn't an alcoholic who struggles with his condition. **** the short build up, this is a mega fight and one I'm genuinely excited for.
He wasn't unmotivated. He's a Smith brother. They eat, breathe and live the sport of boxing. He just came up against a style he couldn't have great success with. I think he'd win a rematch, but motivation is not the issue.
For our resident progressives, do uou find it a little sexist for women to fight 2 min instead of 3 min?
Smith is a threat no doubt because of the size, reach, and ability to punish your body. You can't fall asleep stepping out, or staying close because he's good on the inside too for someone that tall and rangy. With all of that said, he really doesn't control his distance and use his reach to keep you at the end of his punches to the fullest. He had issues fighting going backwards vs Ryder, got stuck on the ropes, and when he got pressured effectively was vulnerable to the body, to the head with hooks and uppercuts. Ryder kept a high guard, and moved his head which led to Smith missing with the jab, and his whole left side was exposed. I expect Canelo to brutalize that side after some lazy or missing jabs. Ryder also is not the super accurate or explosive counter puncher Canelo is. Some things Smith got away with in the Ryder fight, he wouldn't in this one, just ask Kovalev, who ****ed up once and it was over. Maybe Smith improved from the Ryder fight and now is better prepared for a shorter, skilled fighter. I see Canelo figuring him out mid fight, and then countering him into oblivion.
That depends how old she is. And he is. He still lives at home so I would assume (hope) he’s somewhat young and she is as well. But yes the younger women desire the chase. Older women do not.
Another thing to consider, Kovalev had an abbreviated training camp, was coming off of almost being KO'd, pulled his punches because he didn't want to gas himself out. Yet still managed to outbox Canelo for seven to eight rounds arguably nine, and he managed to rock him once. Now by no means am I saying that Smith is on Kovalev's level as a boxer, but what I am saying is, he's far more durable at this point, he will not pull his punches because he won't gas out, he is massive, has an incredible height and reach advantage, and is better in every way shape and form than Rocky Fielding, so don't get it twisted and say, "well look what Canelo did to this big gangly guy, he'll do it to Callum too." Yeah the sport doesn't work like that. So take into consideration, a lackadaisical shot to absolute hell Krusher with a rehydration clause, who was looking to survive and collect a paycheck, throwing pitty pats... managed to take the majority of the rounds off of Canelo and rock him once. What can someone who's in their prime and not weight drained who also happens to be bigger than Sergey, in every way, who definitely tonight will be throwing heavier shots than that Kovalev, possibly do if he sticks to a game plan and behind his jab? There's a possibility he knocks Canelo out.
When I say he was unmotivated, Its my opinion that this wasn't on a world stage, i. e. an important fight to shine, It happens to the best of elite fighters, make no mistake. We call it fighting to the level of opponent. I take nothing away from John Ryder he fought a competive fight but I had Callum winning. Coincidentally John Ryder fought last night and strangely was offkey. (maybe this layoff affects fighters in different ways). I do see an easier fight for Callum than most. he can use his height and reach attributes to his advantage. but I see him mixing it up at just the correct times and still having the success, which will be a comment that will surprise the casuals. I make no mistake and rate Canelo highly, but Smith is also in the upper echelons and has that xfactor about him. Keep an eye out for him to perfectly time Canelos rushes,. When Canelo tries to open the defence gates of Callums tight defence by using combination from body to head a catch and shoot move, This is where Smith variety will pays dividend. I can envisage him making Saul pay. The check hook and uppercut will discourage Canelo. Saul will get frustrated and barge his way in walking with his hands up to open Callum defences, Callum will use this to his advantage. Callum has is an intelligent variety of shot selection, I call it having a good eye. There is a possibility that Reynoso would prolong Canelo career by stopping fight. Mundo has to be aware of rough House tactics by Alvarez frustration. but he will be able to deal with it. This is my take. If anyone can beat Canelo It will be Mundo. I also love to witness an Artur Beterbiev vs Callum Smith.. let's see if this comes into fruition. but its would be firewo rks with Callum at his natural weight. The mistake Team Canelo has made is for Callum to rehydrate, he wouldnt be a weak pushover were Canelo is at his best and looks stellar against an opponent who is weak.
