And so is his first 20 consecutive defences as half of them were the WBA interim title.

The same version that Canelo won against Fielding but all his haters said it's not a legit title... yet Golovkin one the interim fighting unranked journeyman Milton Nunez.

He didn't say it for years. I think Sanchez might have said it once to HBO in a meeting ,then after a fight HBO asked GGG and he said sure why not? You all take things out of context, 154lbers can come up to fight him, 160lbs fighters can fight him, and he's not afraid of 168lbers either. Why would he be afraid of any of these guys. He dominated Andy Lee in the amateures, he Koed Butte with head gear on. What i remember was, That he would come down to 154lbs for Foyd only, not weight Bully Canelo who out weighed Floyd in their bout by 20lbs on fight night. What Sanchez said for years was he thought GGG could stop anybody from 154lbs to 168lbs. GGG didnt go around bragging, all he would say was when asked about if he thought he would k.o. an apponent was, I don't know, I'm not God. You all make it out like GGG was running around saying this.

Then he was emediatly elevated to WBA regular. He had no interim title defenses, and from what I understand, the WBA made up the WBA super title to appease Sturms promoter so he didn't have to fight GGG, much like Canelo's franchise title so he don't have to fight Charlo. Later GGG destroyed Geal who beat Sturm.

They are not claiming it to be consecutive, just different, now it's 21 defenses in 2 reigns. Apparently it hasn't been done.oh, and 19 by KO.

2 reigns to beat the 20 consecutive title defenses is a sham.

This is why I dont get the complaints in this thread. At no time tonight did they say consecutive defenses.

What do you mean 2 different records? Apparently he broke the 20 consecutive title defense record today...

It has to be consecutive to make history as beating the 20 "consecutive" title defense record. He lost to canelo, his first reign with "20"defenses is over. Hes got 1 defense in his second reign.

Virgil Hill has 20 light heavyweight title defenses in two separate reigns, interrupted by a loss to Thomas Hearns. GGG has 21title defense in 2 different reigns at this point. Its just another statistical record, just like records in title fights and so forth. It was just something to motivate GGG. It's not that complicated.

Its not that complicated when theyre pushing the narrative that The 20 consecutive title defense record was broken tonite. The only history that was made was that GGG continued his terror on fighting Mandos.

Ok allow me to simplify this for you, there are two records we are talking about.

Who has the most consecutive middleweight title defenses in history? Bernard Hopkins.

Who has the most middleweight title defenses in total in history?
    Gennadiy Golovkin.

We are talking about different records. It isn't a big deal, just fodder for the networks to hype a win.

Actually GGG and Hopkins are tied for most consecutive defenses.
