Canelo Alvarez vs Avni Yildirim possible for February in Mexico

Good to get it out of the way and reward his fans in a homecoming fight in Mexico.

 

Question... How the faq is Yildirim WBC mandatory? We're talking Avni, right?

 

Through a technicality, basically.
So Yildrim got a questionable W over Lolenga Mock, who had slowly climbed up the WBC rankings.
The WBC title was vacant and Yildrim got the call.
But because the Dirrell fight ended via a TD, the WBC for some reason decided Yildrim gets another shot.

Well, I figure the reason being that out of the 23 pro bouts Yildrim has had, 12 of those have been for some regional WBC belt.
The man has paid his fees.

 

I heard that DAZN was willing to pick up the Yildrim fight if Canelo fought Golovkin afterwards.

 

I look forward to everyone making fun of Canelo for fighting his obviously-overmatched mandatory instead of a Charlo or a Beterbeiev or anyone else.

I don't have a problem with this at all. Free up the remainder of the year for a BJS fight or jump/drop in weight for a bigger name.
