January is usually a fairly slow month but both Eddie and Frank have said they intend to hold cards straight away.

Guessing from a planning point of view, this is going to be a disaster for promoters. London is obviously a massive no for the foreseeable future.

Are promoters going to wait very late on to book venues in hope they can get a tier 2 and have 2,000 people in attendence? Or just accept that they will be behind closed doors until at least April/May time?

Also run the risk of selling tickets etc, for 2 days before the show Boris bunging you into tier 3 or 4?

Given the governments ability to change the rules on a whim from Wednesday to Thursday to Saturday. It is extremely difficult to plan anything in advance.

Professional sport is still allowed to take place without fans in tier 3 and 4.

However I fear that once it becomes clear that they arent able to vaccinate at the rate they would like to. Further restrictions will come in place, and professional sport maybe banned again completely.

So it is worth putting the shows on now, as I fear that come March/April time all professional sport will be banned again for a period of time.

Call me a cynic, but given the fact they are struggling to even vaccinate 10% of the population by April 2021. Based on their current failing strategy, that they show no signs of changing. There will be full HARD lockdowns with all professional sport banned at some point around March/April again until July.

I’m amazed that any sport is taking place at the moment. What it would take for the Premier League to be suspended is beyond me.

Premier league isn’t too bad in all honest but how they’re still doing European matches and international competitions - including ****ing friendlies is beyond me.

The new variant of Covid spreads much faster and there is much the Govt are not telling us.

The announcement yesterday will no doubt result in a lockdown of more than 3 weeks and extended to all areas of England as seen in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The news that slipped out about it taking until the end of 2022 to get all vaccinated was bad enough, but it will be a total disaster if the vaccination does not work on the new variant.

We are about to hit record deaths in Jan to Mar and professional sport will be surely stopped for a period of time.

The biggest disaster so far is the political mismanagement of this crisis since day 1 all over the UK - none of them should be allowed to run a bath.

With the vaccines on the cusp I always thought there might be a period of wait for it so they can get fans in.

Oxford vaccine due to be approved just after Christmas. January WILL see a huge uptick in vaccines in the country.

Do people still worry about this thing? Serious question. I don’t see anybody that bothered anymore. I was lucky, I never cared about it as I come into no contact with old people, have young kids so don’t get out that much anyway. So the last 9 months haven’t been THAT different for me. Especially since I went back to work. I was never scared of getting it at all. I’ve been the doctors about 5 times in my life and I was obviously confident in my chances if I got it. Isn’t it a 99.7% survival rate? I know a 31 year old who had his death marked down as it but he was obese and his family think he was one of the ones they just marked it as that. The fact that we all have to live like this instead of the vulnerable groups hiding away is selfish and pathetic if you ask me. I understand shielding the NHS but them Nightingales were barely used.

I have been of the opinion that the government have purposely made decisions to make things worse to suit them. Simple decisions that could have been made from day one but haven’t are far too stupid to be real negligence. I say this not in hindsight, but as stuff I was saying in March. Now way would Scientists make these decisions if there wasn’t something they/government were aiming for. London has had higher rates for months and has been allowed to do what the **** it wants but they put others in higher tiers, then do this with days before Christmas. It’s all planned if you ask me. Other countries went back to more normality months ago and haven’t had as bad a rises again like we have.

They were talking about ramping the amount of fans in stadiums at the footy only 2 weeks ago quickly getting 4,6 or 10k in very soon. Now this. Somethings got to give, how long do we have to live like this for? Until they force everyone to have a vaccination for something with such a huge survival rate. Otherwise people may be outcasted from doing anything.

Imagine waking up and this was all a dream haha.

I think the main issue is how many people will need hospital treatment. Hospitals this time of year are usually busier than normal. If you add all the extra covid cases ontop then that will have a huge knock on effect. Meaning doctors will have to make decisions about who lives and dies as they can't treat everybody. That nightingale was a good idea but we simply don't have the staff to cover such places and last time they were unsuccessfully begging retired people to help out.

Regarding other countries, almost all European countries badly hit have had big rises again. Italy was ok for a bit but it has surged which is no suprise as people mix more out of lockdown.

Grassroots boxing and non-ppv televised boxing will suffer the most. PPV boxers can still earn money without a crowd but not nearly as much.

Eddie has just put on his Instagram story

“big week ahead with lots of 2021 announcements incoming”.

Kelly Avenasyan is one I suppose.
    Whyte v Povetkin?
    Okolie v Glowacki?

I’m going to compile a list later on of fighters who need a fight.

I was part of a zoom meeting this morning regarding the reopening of gyms. Tier 4 is expected to be extended across the country from Boxing Day with March 2021 not unrealistic as a proposed date for ending the Tier 4 lockdown. All irrelevant as professional athletes will access gyms and train, even go abroad etc but what it does is cast huge doubt over any large crowd attendances in the UK for a very long time. If Fury and AJ want maximum coin, then they won’t be fighting in the UK.
