Only because other sports, particularly team sports, are more diligent in their operations. The second reason is that there is less corruption (though it still exists) and the fact that there is normally only one governing body.

    Professional sport is rife.

The best option for fans is simply to stop moaning about it as if they know any better. The majority of sports fans are not the brightest and are happy to believe what they are told, which is one of the reasons marketing works so well in sport and why sport, as an enterprise, is one of the biggest businesses in existence. Scepticism largely doesn't exist.

I think he is as well. Can add guys like golovkin to that list as well. These guys nowadays are hitting freakishly hard without even properly putting all that much into it. Technique alone can add to your power but not to the level these guys are hitting.

Theres always been guys that hit hard....knock out artists etc. These guys dont fall into that category tho...their generating big power/hurtful punches without putting much into their punches.

Massive advantage cause they know they,ll break guys down weather thats through discouraging them to throw back...or throw too much to keep them off or just break them down.

Definitely on the juice. One look at him shows it and his performance confirms it. Unreal fighter and his movement is next level but he's on soemthing. How many top guys are clean though??

I'm pretty sure he's on something. I wouldn't single him out though, I can imagine it's pretty widespread in the sport

Oh yeah, I agree. In fact fans in general don't seem to care much anyway, at least until the point the sport itself tells them to care. Which normally only happens when the magnitude of the overall drug usage becomes too big to control.

Your average fan just wants to be entertained, and the sporting bodies have no interest in derailing a money train unless their hand is forced.

When McGwire, Sosa and then Bonds were hitting balls 500 feet every few at bats with half a back swing in baseball, and Bonds head was the size of a wheel of Gouda, no one cared as revenue was through the roof and fans were entertained. It would've stayed like that too until the applecart got rocked.

    100%

Are you American? I'm not familiar with Baseball but I'm familiar with the McGwire and Bonds doping cases, if that makes sense. I've been thinking about getting the book "Game of Shadows" for a while.

I love the "head the size of a wheel of Gouda" line :risas3: It's very true.

Game Of Shadows is great, I'd definitely recommend it. It's a little 'expose' like sometimes, but it was an eye opener for me in the way the system works, and how widespread and covered up everything is regarding doping.

Nah, I'm English, got into baseball as during this boom period of baseball ( about 96 onwards for about a decade I'd say ) I had a job where I got home about 1am every night, and it was on Channel 5 twice a week.

Was funny as the offensive numbers rocketed by an absurd amount in the period, and commentators/analysts etc would discuss why this was, even citing the baseball stitching or ball production as a reason for so many power numbers, all whilst a guy who's put 25lbs of muscle on in one off season hits every ball he makes contact with out of the park.

In fact, if you even accused anyone, even broadly of taking drugs of some sort, you were shot down as a liar. The complicity was crazy, all the way to the top. Jose Conseco's book 'Juiced' literally made him the most hated man in baseball ( Jose was a bit of an acquired taste to be fair! ) even though his book basically said exactly what was happening, that everyone was juicing. That's a good read too.

With boxing, I see very similar circumstances. But, it'll go on for as long as nothing terrible happens. The only time I can see it being actually addressed is if a guy gets severely injured or even worse killed by a doped boxer. I can imagine a lawsuit from a bereaved family, or a class action suit from boxers previously hurt or wronged by doped boxers against complicit promoters/orgs would be the only thing that would shake things up. Otherwise, just business as normal.

He's a great great fighter but probably is on it. I don't know much about PEDS like but I'd imagine they increase punch resistance? Coupled with his already iron chin it's a bit of a nightmare scenario for his opponent's!

It's bad like innit. But how wide spread is it? Is it more or less a level playing field cos everyone's doing it? I wouldn't have thought callum smith would have been on it for instance but maybe I'm naive.

Also how come they're not picked up on the.testing every time?

That has always been the thing that has been glaringly obvious to me that they'd been juicing like mad, especially Alvarez. Prior to getting caught he'd probably have been able to fight at Welter for the right money, making weight easily. Now the guy bounces between Super Middle and Light Heavy.

Wouldn't surprise me... When I was in the army alot of the lads in Poland started taking steds n peds because they were easy to get hold of.

One that impressed me most was anavar.. Watching someone's physical strength skyrocket while there fat dropped.

That's quite funny. You seem like you've got a fair bit of knowledge of Baseball starting from the late night Channel 5 episodes. Before the internet, those wore the little gems I used to love. Random stuff like that on tele.

I'll get both of the books. I hadn't heard of the Juiced book and can only vaguely recall Conseco. Thanks for the heads up. He looks like a WWE wrestler. Up until a few years ago, I didn't actually realise how large some of these Baseball guys were. McGwire was the one who always sprung to my mind because he was a lot taller than Bonds, but Bonds was built more like an IFBB pro bodybuilder.

I watched an interview recently with McGwire where he "admits" to using drugs, revealing what can only be described as morsels of the truth. To say he was revealing half truths would be an enormous overstatement. What an existence. The legalities behind his case may mean that he will never be able to disclose the actual truth, but maybe not. Who knows.

You're absolutely right with your assessment. If you know any other books related to doping or documentaries, you can always let me know. I've seen most of the popular kind of stuff. I read the academic papers but I really enjoy a sports book on or relating to the subject.

Even microdosing testosterone can result in someone not being able to get back down to a weight that they previously were able to walk around at. Cyclists are good examples of this, even at amateur levels. A lot of guys who walked around at 65kg would never be able to get down to less than 71/72kg after microdosing testosterone.

Of course, in boxing, boxers can still make weight by dehydrating themselves, so if they hadn't previously found it that hard to make a certain weight, they may still be able to do so by killing themselves trying to make that weight. High-level boxers will be utilising a lot more than testosterone.

It was when he was busted for Clen that it all made perfect sense given the pros of using such a substance, the weight cutters dream when it comes to retaining power and energy.

I don’t think there was any drug testing in place was there and all this time since his last fight , been busted previously . I think it’s quite short odds that he has been on something to lend a helping hand!

Yes. Clenbuterol is widely used in sports that require aerobic endurance to even a moderate degree. Half life is similar to testosterone.
