If they fought, who is your "money" on? Plant or Alvarez?

Ive been on the Plant express for a lil bit now, and if he gets a full camp, I expect him to give Canelo a very competitive fight.

Its hard for me to pick him, because Canelo being the cash cow, its near impossible to beat on the cards, but I think he will impress people when the fight happens.

My only real concern is, while I feel good about Plants ability to box with Canelo on the outside, and I actually think he will have the edge there, I am not sure hes seasoned enough yet to handle the type of style of educated pressure while throwing home run bombs that Canelo has started to develop. I think it can sometimes take a pretty experienced fighter to handle that level of skillful pressure, and Im not sure if Plant is ready for that.

But, I expect it to be more than competitive on the outside and if Plant can tolerate the pressure Canelo starts putting on him, I think he will impress people in the fight.

I dont know if plant can stop him, i do think plant will outpoint him though. probably not quite as clean as lara or mayweather but canelo is alot better now. He got schooled by lara and mayweather.

I'd much rather see him in with Saunders or Ryder, and especially Benavidez. Plant is a hypejob, Canelo carves through him like a hot knife through a turd.

So wait? You're not on the Usyk train, but on the Plant train? What gives? I can honestly say, that legit makes my brain hurt, it's that incomprehensible.

    I understand your bewilderment.

But, just for the record, I wouldnt say Im 'not' on the Usyk train.

I like Usyk. I root for him (unless he fights Wilder or AJ), when he fights anyone else Im cheering him on.... I think hes great for the sport and I admire his intangibles. And as a person, hes impossible not to like.

I simply dont think hes as good as his fans promote him as, and I feel his fans sweep a lot of stuff under the rug with him and make a lot of excuses for his recent performances, meanwhile they turn around and roast other fighters for similar things they look the other way with Usyk on. Imo.

I also am not a big fan of how he fights (though I do appreciate his effectiveness) its just not something I particularly enjoy watching relative to styles I find more aesthetically pleasing.

Those things tend to make it appear Im not on the Usyk train when I converse on here, but personally, I do consider myself, at least slightly, a fan.

Alvarez has one defeat and that was to Mayweather...that's what on his official pro record, everyone else saying he lost to this fighter or that is just giving their opinion.

The beautiful thing about the Mayweather loss is that Alvarez learned. Plant is a very good fighter and I don't know who will win if he fights Alvarez but I will say this:

Being a cute slick boxing alone without power isn't going to be enough if you can't keep Alvarez off you. Saul actually moves his head and rolls with punches.

I don't know if Plant has a boxing IQ because he hasn't been in with any fighters that have posed a threat but we know Alvarez has a high boxing IQ, he punched at Smith left arm until it swelled removing his favorite punch, the counter left hook he likes to throw. Smith said it himself today, he couldn't throw it because his arm was useless. That's a Boxing IQ.

'Official' verdicts are also just peoples opinion.

Usually opinions of corrupt senior citizens sitting on the other side of the ring without the benefit of watching it on a big screen and muted. Let alone being able to rewatch rounds, apply analysis, ect.

Ya, I'll take the consensus of boxing nerds that spend time actually breaking down fighta on repeat and analyse fights up close than a bunch of old corrupt boxing judges.

Boxing is also notorious for corruption. Not sure why anyone would put much stock into 'official' decisions.

True. but unlike our opinions...those "Official" verdicts go on the official Boxing record so there opinions hold weight.

    I agree.

Not all judges are corrupt, some are actually honest with boxing knowledge but other than that, I can see your point here.

It's not putting stock in official decision per se because there have been some robberies but at the end of the day, it's on their pro record whether we like it or not. Some people say that Golovkin is still undefeated and that may be so but his pro record now says 1 defeat whether some people want to acknowledge or not.
