Totally agree with that bud. The brits are horrible for keeping their boxers at the same weight for too long. However canelo,s went from 154 in 2016 to 168 in 2020...and absolutely bullied the biggest guy in the 168 weight class. 14 lbs is massive to be going in and bullying guys. Even taken smith out the equation...is there anyone at 168 that wont get bullied by him. And why dont the brits move up earlier if as canelo,s shown its not really a problem...you,ll just get stronger yourself. Their trying to boil them down for as long as possible for a reason or why do it.
My guess is that they don’t truly believe they have the attributes both physical and technical to take up a division. Sometimes just winning one world title is a massive achievement and they want to cash in on it as long as they can or don’t want the feeling of starting all over again against bigger fella’s. It’s not just the British fighters but I think it’s most common with them.
I think it's also the fact that a lot of our fighters have had easy paths to world titles, without facing an increasingly better level of opposition. What then happens is they hold out for a big fight to cash out in with there belt. Selby springs to my mind as a prime example. He knew he had to move up but he also knew his world title against Warrington was his bargaining chip to being paid well. Smith is slightly different because he could of legit gone up to LHW and got good fights being the #1 SMW ranked fighter. Taking a break after the WBSS and probably Gallagher influencing things, meant he ended up fighting N'Dam then Ryder. There's other examples also but the above is usually the pattern that repeats.
Maybe it was Canelos speed and skill set that also played a part. Although he may not be the bigger man, it’s not like he’s giving away 3 stone. Callum could of been letting himself get pushed back to save on punishment. Not saying he was, but it could of been the reason.
Agree it wasnt just his strength that done it on saturday. But we,re struggling to find anyone that can stand their ground with canelo. A guy thats came from something like 140 lb initially. He was 16 admittedly. But it was only 3 years ago he was 154. Went up to 175 and kovalev got knocked out. Callum smith the biggest guy in the 168 weight class a freak for the weight...couldnt stand with him. Somethings up with that. Especially when you,ve got the majority of guys clinging on to their own weight class trying everything they can to not move up weight...you,ve got to ask yourself why they dont want to move up...its because they all know its a lot harder up there against naturally bigger guys. Yet canelo,s strolling in making it look far too easy and most of its coming because they cant even stand and exchange with him. Two red flags to me. Somethings not on the even playing field imo.
I read somewhere that his favourite fighter was Roy Jones Jr. And I can’t ever remember him accusing him of anything.
Can we all just leave Anthony alone, "Tony" apparently died after his fight with "Oleksander, Oleksander... Oleksander... Oleksander" So can we all just stop talking about him, the man wants to spend time with his family, his wife and children and live an ordinary life. OK, look, we can question some stuff.. he predicted Chisora to KO "Oleksander, Oleksander... Oleksander... Oleksander" and predicted Smith would beat Canelo. He also said a long time ago he wouldn't lose to a "midget" then Stevenson knocked him in to next week, He also didn't beat a reigning champion and only won vacant titles.. he fought 3 reigning champions, was sparked in 2 of those fights and lost the other.. he also dodged the WBSS to beat up and lame David Haye twice. But look, we shouldn't hold all that and more against him, we should bow to his knowledge because Sky Sports do and according to Anthony (RIP Tony) you can't have an opinion unless you've boxed at his level. Just like he doesn't have an opinion on football, politics, elite fighters... oh hang on.. so that means he has obviously played for England, Run a country and boxed and beat the elites. We must have forgot, maybe he did it all as Anthony and we didn't know who it was, I'm not sure, anyway Anthony (RIP Tony) also said drug cheats should be banned for life, no excuses and no questions or excuses, a failed test and you're done but he loves Billy Joe Saunders, Whyte, has photos with other fighters who has failed tests. But just forget all that, just leave him alone, because this is harassment now, it's uncalled for and nasty to keep mentioning Anthony (RIP Tony).
I guess were see how quickly/struggles to get down to 160lb next or 154lb. If hes clean then it will be hard to lose 14/8lb of muscle and still perform at the level he does. Standing up In the 12th round like It was the 1st round was questionable. Then again, the fight pace never really picked up.
100%, funny thing is Joshua probably thinks he's a complete mug and sees him for the arselicker that he really is.
canelo is without a doubt on the marquez diet for pac 4 .... but just as irrefutable is callum smith got beat by john ryder in his last fight , same dimensions nigh on as canelo nowhere near the talent / power / peds , the result was highly predictable i fancied canelo via body shots based off the rebrasse fight wich people forget about , was 12/1 betfair traded in play at 4/6 after he hurt smith his vaunted power couldnt put a dent in middleweight john ryder whos been koed by 40 year old khomistkey , the form guide was clear . The only advantage smith had was size and based off the kovalev fight who even past best give canelo a lot better fight showed he can negate size well ... if i was being really harsh would say none of the smiths are or were world class , world level ish but would favour plant benavidez etc over smith pre saturday , nikky something kickboxer and one armed george groves weight drained on a cash out ... easiest route to a world title since charles martin sold his
I’ve heard the Smiths and Bellew are not speaking at the moment something about what the smiths have heard ? Bellew saying
I agree with everything you and Twenty are saying, the thing with this is that Alvarez, especially around this time period, is one of the worst examples because of how he's been cutting weight, retaining strength and power, rehydration clauses etc. it's like someone playing a computer game with continual cheats. Alvarez has the skillset, he's a terrific boxer, absolutely no question, a great chin, it's just that there's other factors that should have been roadblocks that have been taken away and at times it feels like they've been placed in front of others. Even when there's no trace of a substance in your system the foundations have already been laid, in some cases, for whatever advantages your body needs to work as a result of what you've taken. For me the fact that Alvarez has been able to do all of what he's done shows the danger involved, people are risking their lives in the ring so things need to be heavily monitored. I used to work with a girl who was boxing mad, GGG obsessed. after GGG 1 and Avarez getting busted I was talking to her about it on lunch and she just went off, this is comedy gold. For the next few minutes I'm being shown various pics of Alvarez in his underwear and I'm being told "look at his dick!" she was going on about the size of it like a nutter but her point was that he had a juicers Johnson and she was backing this up by telling me about ex Bf's who juiced, mad. I'm not quite sure where I'm going with this now but I think the point is that he's been putting PEDS and the like in his system for years and years, as demonstrated by a GGG fangirl who bizarrely had saved multiple pics of Alvarez at weigh ins etc to use the size of his bulge as the evidence!
