Froch would most definitely lose on points but would definitely have his moments, if Canelo cant stop smith no way he stops froch.

The only British smw of the last 25 years I see having any chance of beating Canelo is the dark destroyer and calzaghe,

Benn, if he was to connect clean, dont care who it is , at the weight they would feel it and Benn had a chance against anybody due to this, 9 out 10 times though he would lose on points to Canelo.

Calzaghe imo would be to busy, quick and illusive for Canelo, canelo loves a slow pace, calzaghe would be too relentless over 12 rounds and would win by unanimous decision.

Canelo was great the other night but I do feel people are going slightly over the top, many big hitters at the weight from the past would have a chance of stopping him.

Just my opinion but there are levels at the top...world class and then there’s elite. Froch was world class without a doubt, but I just think Canelo has more gears and variety and is undoubtedly elite. People keep bringing up his loss to Mayweather but he was a fraction of the fighter he is today. He’s learnt, evolved and adapted...plus, Mayweather was elite and grew through the weights. He was a lower weight when he commenced his pro career but he stepped up, just like Pac.

Anyway, Froch was brilliant, incredible heart, character and chin...but what kept it at world class (in my eyes) was that you knew what you was getting with him.

100%. Canelo was also weight drained against Floyd not that it would have mattered. I can't think of many fighters who have come back from a loss and evolved like he has. Mayweather literally gave him and his team a boxing lesson.

Canelo on points. Froch was a very good fighter but I think Canelo has more ways to win than froch did.

Canelo looked great the other night simply because he was facing a fighter nowhere near elite level.

Calzaghe v Canelo would have been a great fight and I think our man would beat him with Benn having a 30% chance due to his power as would Frock.

    Canelo UD.

The things that made Froch very good aren't things that will matter much here. Too slow, too easy to hit. Not an easy night's work by any means because Froch was quality but he wasn't *that* hard to outbox at the top level. For reference. I'd have picked GGG to beat him too. That would have been some fight

I would love to have seen GGG against Froch, if that was at a 164 catchweight I'd back GGG all night long to silence the self labelled Too Big Too Strong

At 164, definitely but I'd rather have just seen GGG make the move up. It annoys me that he didn't earlier in his career but he wanted the Canelo pay day. He wouldn't have rocked Froch I don't think, but Froch wouldn't have just been able to walk through those shots. Would have been one of the rare instances of GGG having a speed advantage as wekk,

This "Canelo was weight draned" is a myth. He weighed 152 in 2 fights 2 years prior (against Rhodes and Gomez) and weighed 153 against Austin Trout, his fight before Mayweather.

    No issue with the weight.

Floyd got a green Canelo at the right time and it's a name on his resume that get's better year on year given what Canelo is accomplishing.

Looking at boxrec he weighed atleast 153 1/4 but mostly 154 from the Hatton fight, they always say that last lb is the toughest. You could see in the 24/7 documentary how much is was affecting him not been able to eat properley.

Canelo was definatley Green though but would he have got to the level he is at now without that fight?

Canelo forces Rob to do the merciful thing and throw in the towel. He would hit Froch far too clean and far too often, like some before him. Th difference this time is that he would be doing it with some serious spite and power

Good point, I did hear, and I can’t remember where from, that the Mayweather vs Canelo fight was inevitable so it was made before Canelo got any better. It makes sense and was good advice.
