Your right. I think I confused Lewis vs Stracey.
Either way good win for Green.
Here's tbe problem for Green- his defense is bad.
And while your right about him throwing more then Jones Green is still going to walk right to Jones snd engage against someone who has tremendous power.
Green had Hansen hurt and Hansen still turned the tables on Green because Green doesn't move his head enough and Hansen ended up finding it.
Green has a good chin but to ask him to withstand a murderous puncher I think is too much.
Sooner or latter Jones is going to land and Green is going to end up getting stopped.

The Curry fight was in Birmingham Richard M. How about the fights with Milton McCrory ?

Great to see Green getting some love on here. A totally whole hearted Fighter and great entertainer but I really can't see him winning this one.
It's really about styles. Dave launched himself at opponents with manic intensity and blinding punch output which tended to overwhelm them which is exactly the wrong style to use against a guy like Jones who loved to pick his spot.
As one who has seen Colin close up, about 6 feet away in fact, let me tell you, he was no lucky puncher. Jones liked to punch with an opponent rather than wait. It's a hugely difficult skill but when it works it means the opponent is wide open with his weight moving forward, committed to his own shot. And Jones wound the power up to 11.
Also, consider the distance. Colin twice went 15 rounds in the heat of Nevada. Dave was gassing badly against Palomino that night at Wembley.
There is simply no way that Green, with his storming style doesn't get nailed by Jones, probably after Colin's lucky ninth round as he tires but what a great fight.

Dave Green beat better fighters and more of them.

To me, Dave Green is like Ali and Jones is iike Jimmy Ellis. Green is like Leonard and Jones is like Curry. Green is like Hearns and Jones is like McCrory.

Jones is the off-brand version of Dave Green.

    Good but not as good.

Unfortunately for Jones, both of the Nevada fights were over 12 rounds. Had they been 15, he would almost certainly have won, though I thought he won both fights anyway.
I agree with your assessment of the outcome but loved watching both fighters.

I wouldn't argue overly hard one way or another. There's not all that much between them in my book.
