Well done. Setting a fine example. While Lewis Hamilton gets SPOTY award for driving round in circles and avoiding tax.

He needs to make new fans cos he couldn’t have 60,000 booing him against Fury....

    Legend.

Time for hearn to match it.

I m one of the ones that say they need to be taking a small percentage off the really big fights to put back into boxing at the lower levels.

Fair play to joshua...just doing it another way. I,ve slated him on here....but lets be honest its hard being in the limelight nowadays...cant do right for wrong sometimes.

Great gesture from Joshua and definitely needed.

Only thing I’d critique is why Sky have chosen to broadcast it. Obviously we know why, for the good PR. It would be better if they said nothing and it got to the press organically. Looks a bit contrived otherwise. That’s no slight on Joshua, just Sky preventing even a good gesture like this from being 100% pure by using it for PR.

The problem with Sky broadcasting it over social media is it tells people that it's impossible to do a good deed without shouting from the roof tops about it.

To almost prove my point, I logged onto Twitter after posting the message above and saw Anthony Fowler had 'quote tweeted' someone who had said they didn't have money to buy their kids Christmas presents etc etc. Fowler basically said he would buy a present for the guy's kids.

For those of you who don't use Twitter, 'quote tweeting' will show the conversation to all of Fowler's 74k Twitter followers. He could have messaged the guy privately for example. Needless to say, in reply Fowler has received loads of messages telling him what a 'good person' he is and how 'kind' he is. Fowler gets the validation he was craving and the endorphin hit. It stops the good deed being totally pure.

Apologies, bit of a rant - but people so brazenly lacking self awareness in this way gets right on my nerves.

Agree with you mate there. One thing about Sky choosing to broadcast it is mainly they also think the publicity surrounding it might persuade the Government / other people, companies etc to fund amateur boxing gyms.

Fowler would do anything to receive good PR. I've also seen him post on in his Instagram how he's going to help as many people as possible in poverty etc after his career.

That's true, I hope Sky's rationale is that especially after Rashford's campaign.. albeit for a different cause. It's a great gesture and at least it wasn't Joshua personally broadcasting it.

I can't stand Fowler, no self awareness at all and constantly seeking validation.

Why the fack is some guy tweeting telling the world, he's got no money to buy his kids Xmas presents.

Yes he may be in a dire situation but he's got a smartphone and twitter so he can't be that hard up. Way to lose some self respect and then on top of that he gets the biggest attention seeking donut, respond to him. Anthony 'never misses an opportunity to blow his own trumpet' Fowler.

Fowler is a moron. He's desperate to be liked by everyone. He's constantly seeking praise and then on top of that he's continuously sniffing the butts of the likes of Eddie Hearn, Froch, Bellew, AJ. Its completely embarrassing and he has no self awareness at all. He's another Bellew. What is wrong with people from Liverpool.

He's a complete idiot. The same people who can't see through his 'good deeds' he makes sure to BROADCAST on Twitter are the same one who simp for Sharon Courtenay. Very similar characters. Was fantastic when Fitzgerald beat him.

One of the underrated highlights of that fight was when he tried to enter to 'Freed From Desire' thinking it would generate a great reception from the Liverpool crowd.. what followed was just a slightly underwhelming and awkward ring walk with no one really reacting and lots of boos from the Fitzgerald Preston crowd.

    Timestamped below for a giggle.

I'm not the type of guy to hate on a boxer, but Fowler is one of the only boxers I can't stand. He constantly posts nonsense about the pandemic when he clearly has no knowledge on that or vaccinations.

I really hope Scotty Fitzgerald beats him again
A great moment seeing Fowler lose to Fitzgerald.

He posts nonsense about the pandemic too when he doesn't have a clue about it. It makes him look a bit silly.

Didn't Fowler get exposed for a racist tweet a this year but he claimed he was hacked, or was that someone else?

I remember that, pretty sure it was Fowler. He's not high profile enough for it to matter as much as for others.

Yeah just found it, the worst thing was he made another fake tweet about him having a relationship with his sister to pretend both were fake.

Fowler Fitzgerald being lined up for late Spring. Since it'll be 12 rounds, I sense Fitzgerald winning a close points decision.

Even when people do something good...it still somehow manages to be made out to be something bad. Incredible really.

Even if it was for good pr...the outcomes still the same. People in need still get helped. Joshua and fowlers done a good thing giving something back. Instead of hiding it i actually think these things should be made public. Encourages us all to do our little bit.

People in britain have been unbelievable over the years towards charity...weather that being comic relief or charity at home etc. We do our bit and should be proud of that.

Who cares if we blow our own trumpet or dont do it secretly as long as we,re helping in our own way and the people in need are getting the help they need.
