    Felix Tito Trinidad vs Carlos Palomino, at 147 lbs, 15 Rounds. Both Prime. Can Tito knock out Carlos? Would Palomino finish off Trinidad?, then tell him, Do Not Drink The Water, like in the 1970's beer commercial.

    Trinidad by decision. He may score a knockdown along the way. He had more talent than Carlos. I think Tito could apply his underrated boxing skills against an opponent like this who is an inside force.

    Really tough bout for me to try an play out. If Carlos can get that body attack going which I believe he can I think he stops Felix in a 15 rounder. A 12 could go either way. Carlos is more durable though and that may take the day for him in a 12 rounder also.

    Trinidad wins. I have zero doubt.

    He was just a better fighter than Palomino and the styles are highly favorable to Trinidad.

    Outside of having a better chin, and being a better body puncher, there's literally nothing else Palomino has over Tito. He's outgunned in power, handspeed, height, range, and just overall talent and skill. Trinidad also had a better defense.

    Palomino had legendary stamina, but he's got a problem here because so did Trinidad.

    I wouldn't completely rule out a very late Trinidad stoppage.

    A much better matchup IMO Palomino vs Cotto or Simon Brown. Those are fights where I would pick Carlos.

    I really liked both, Carlos Palomino was back in a time where televised fights were free, he usually fought on the CBS Sports Spectacular. But if you recall, as you mentioned, he was very durable. I am referring to his bouts against Armando Muniz and Davey Boy Green, both in 1977. Palomino could drag his opponents into a firefight, his body blows could wear down anybody.

    He also doesnt get much credit with how well he performed against Benitez. That was a very very close fight

    I remember that January 14 1979 title bout in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Carlos kept him on the ropes, connected to the body, even had Wilfred hurt a few times. But in the end, Benitez counter punching and speed spelled the difference. It was ruled a split decision if I remember, for Wilfred Bemitez, it was on ABC's Wide World Of Sports, live.

    I think that you are probably correct but I hate to say it. I like Trinidad but, in the late 70s, I put in a lot of rounds on the heavy bag pretending to be Carlos Palomino.
    I have never pretended to be Felix Trinidad.

    I liked both a lot but Tito did hit the deck quite a bit in his fights at 147 lbs.

    Tito did go down more than a few times. It seemed he had a problem getting caught when he was cold and or off balance more than having a weak chin. I saw many of his bouts. Trinidad took punches without blinking later in fights that might have knocked him down early.
    At the end of the day Felix was stopped once across 4 or 5 divisions and 40+ fights. He fought good punchers...DelaHoya, Campos, Reid, Vargas, Mayorga and even Roy Jones.
