I'll post an unpopular opinion lol.

The Maidana that Floyd fought was Chino at his best (while Floyd was past prime, mind you) and imo he was a more effective fighter against Floyd than Porter would be.

Maidanas offense was so much sharper, more dynamic, just as if not more rough, with more power. His pressure is different because its not just bullying pressure like Porters, its a sharp 'this guy is almost taking my head off' pressure with the power to put you on ***** street in almost any unconventional and unpredictable shot hes throwing. Thats a different pressure than being bullied and physically imposed on by a sloppy swarmer.

Porters constantly smothers his own work in close, and gets way too caught up in bullying and wrestling, he simply wouldnt be as effective as Maidana was. Just imo though. I expect most wouldnt agree.

Is there a different Shawn porter because the only one I know of has lost against every decent opponent he’s ever fought.

I genuinely don’t know how he’s managed to get so many title fights? The American Chisora.

What separates FM from most top fighters is his foot speed and reflexes. His overall speed. Arturo Gatti spoke about this. He said that he knew Mayweather was fast, but what he didn't expect was how fast FM moved his entire body out of the way.

That`s not the way to bneat Floyd, Conor proved if you stand off and let Floyd lead he is more vulnerable because he doesn`t set up his punches with feints, he prefers to sit back and wait for opponents to lead so he can counter them, coming forwards and throwing loads of shots is the worst thing you can do v Floyd, Porter is no Duran and is far easier to counter than Roberto on the front foot and Spence is easier to hit that Floyd too, Porter would land less punches on Floyd than he did on Spence.

    This is delusional,
I’d say Mayorga has a better chance to beat Mayweather then Porter.

matter of fact prime Mayorga vs Porter would be a hell of a scrap!

    let’s discuss that instead.
I got Prime Mayorga over Porter Brutal KTFO / KO 6!

Porter and Hatton had similarities but ony two. Thats their agression and foot speed. Porter was much bigger, stronger, better stamina, chin, hand speed and power as well as boxing ability. I'm not saying Porters boixing ability is anywhere near Mayweathers but it is much better than he is typically given credit for. Much better than Hattons, thats for sure. I've always thought Porters style could trouble mayweather.

The things that make Porter a difficult fight for ANYONE is his aggressiveness, foot speed, strength and stamina

Prime Mayweather gives Porter a boxing lesson. Not easy because Porter is so strong and awkward but he would have no answer for Floyd’s technical skill in the ring. Porter is good but he comes up short in big fights. I think Spence would be very tough for Floyd but Porter would be relatively easy. Floyd was that good.

The Mayweather that Porter would be facing is the Mayweather that fought Marquez or Alvarez. Porter has no chance against those versions of Mayweather.

Did you just compare Thurman’s power to Pac Duran and JMM? Duran went up to middleweihht and made guys respect him. People think JMM was on roids yet was knocking guys out for years and his nickname is dinamite for a reason. Thurmancan punch but at the top level is barely anove average.

Big difference between him and Chisora. The differences are Porter was never knocked out or even close to being knocked out. Chisora has been knocked out on at least two occasions. All of Porters losses were very close losses that were debatable at best. Porter is a hard contested fight for anyone.

No sir. Mayorga is technically a sloppy fighter, porter has an ugly mauling style but his skills are 100x bettwr than Mayorga prime for prime. I see porter stopping Mayorga inside of 8.

I would agree with you but the same was said about Vernon Forrest prolly 1,000 x better Boxing skill then Mayorga & Mayorga bested him Twice.

Styles make fights for sure & Mayorga vs Porter would have been Herky vs Jerky!
Winner takes home Awkward AF Fighter of the Decade.

Yeah but Vernon was more of a boxer/puncher. The grit and let's be frank, WILDNESS of Mayorga was enough to throw forrest of of his game in 2 fights. Porter can get just as dirty on the inside as Mayorga, and will push a pace Mayorga imo would have a hard time sustaining. I think Porter stops him, on sheer physicality.

I don't like using triangle theories to prove a point but look at what Mosley was able to do to Mayorga. Just saying. But you're right, styles makes fight and a Porter vs Mayorga fight would be a war. Hypothetically speaking.

Lol JMM fought Pac 3 times and landed the same monstrous shots in those 3 fights. Watch the fights, the same exact overhand and the exact same right hand counter.

The first clean overhand JMM lands on Pac, he knocks Pac down hard, even Pac was shocked. JMM landed that exact same punch 50 times prior.

And what a coincidence this happens on the same fight where JMM had Angel Heredia, a convicted expert PED specialist, who’s identity he tried to hide . You think a man who drinks his own urine to get an edge hired Angel Heredia to show him how to lift weights? Lmao, just lmao.
