Do you think Guillermo Rigondeaux will get into the Hall of Fame?

Will the Cuban Quitters amateur pedigree help him get in there like it did with Lazlo Papp? Or will he just be dismissed and laughed at for being a mediocre fighter in the pros who quit like a ***** in his biggest fight after talking a load of smack before it?

 

He does have a chance to get into HOF. Maybe not 1st ballot, but eventually for sure.

yeah it's the same story with most of his countrymen. Cubans are usually poor in the pros. Pro Cuban boxers all lose in the big fights.

 

It's tough to say. I feel like even though he won multiple championships and lengthy reigns with good scalps, his career was a disapointment.

Guillermo was a breath-taking defensive talent with overall gifts that truly only come along a handful of times every generation. I think it's also easy to forget what a giant win beating Donaire was at the time. That was HUGE given that Donaire had just won fighter of the year and seem really ready to explode into superstardom. But it took Rigy only 36 minutes to shut all that hype down. That was a spanking on HBO that was so bad Nonito was blaming his performance on his wife's pregnancy afterwards

The win over Rico Ramos was good too, and even a past prime Joseph Agbeko isn't bad. But there was a lot of filler crammed into that record too. It stinks that such a talented guy was held back by injuries, managerial problems, and being blatantly ducked. Then again, it didn't help that half of his fights were unwatchable bores.

 

I don't see how, his career was far more valley than peak. He really didn't do anything that stood out. He had a HOF, hell an ATG skillset but if you do nothing with it................................

 

Nope. Rigo's one of my favorite boxers. He never got the oppurtunities to make it. The boxing business favors certain fighters regardless if they're the most or least talented.

 

He is definitely HOF. Don’t hold it against him losing to Lomachenko moving up several divisions.

One big win over Donaire isn't enough to make it to the HOF. He wasted so much of his career and incredible talents and didn't make any effort to excite the crowd or please any promoters. And when he finally did get a big fight that he wanted against Lomachenko he disgraced himself by fighting so **** poor and quitting in the process.

Great talent and skilled defensive boxer but also one-dimensional. He could have done so much more with his career. One could imagine how much better he would be if he would just let his hands go more often in fights.

Usually western boxers gladly turns into a pro after they get ammy World Cup or World Championship gold medal + also Olympic Gold medal. Rigo went 2 Oly cycles and for Loma he was too small guy, this too matters a lot.

 

Dorticos from cubans ( yah, still also from U.S ) performed relatively good, get 2 tittles.
