Riddick Bowe. I count him successful, not a wasted talent, just think he could have done much more. Maybe he falls more into the category of who I would have "liked" to see push to his very limits.
Prime foreman. I really think he could’ve been a really good boxer puncher if he had chosen to use his technical skills and atg jab more often. I also think he was a bit of an underachiever in his prime.
Saunders if he carries on the way he has, he has got 1-2 years left of his prime years, he has to make the most of it, a fully fit and fully focused mentally and physically Saunders would beat anyone from 160-168lbs in today’s division IMO
Theirs been quite a few. I'll add some names that may have been forgotten. Alex Ramos was supposed to be a "sure bet " fight against Hagler. On NBC everytime he fought, then....... Bernard Taylor another fighter on TV quite a bit. Rumor said that " White Horse " reeled him in. Aaron Pryor, though he IS a ATG he could've been so much more. At the top of his game, when he finally got the recognition he deserved, after his greatest victory, ends up in Miami , lost on the streets chasing crack Cocaine. Michael Dokes another " can't miss" candidate, all the talent in the world..... Cocaine, nothing else needs to be said. Greg Page and Buster Douglas, couldn't push away from the table, no discipline. Add Tony Tubbs to this list. Jeff Fenech don't know what his issues were, but he seemed to implode. Howard Davis Jr. Super gifted talent, but couldn't keep any real talented fighters off of him, no power, a strict vegetarian, but probably should've been putting meat in his diet.... .
Chad Dawson, very talented southpaw that looked like the goods but didn't put everything together. Amazing offense when he let his hands go but he didn't do enough of that, was frustrating to watch, and didn't have the toughness. Boiling down to 168 to fight Ward was a huge mistake and a start to his downfall.
Camacho Nunn Tyson Watching these guys, their talent was immediately apparent. No need to watch a full fight. After half a round you’d see that they were gifted.
Mark Breland- should have stayed with Steward. Michael Nunn- saw him outbox Ramos. Don't think Ramos even landed on him. Tommy Ayers- fought prime Starling to a draw. Hector Camacho- could have been tbe southpaw Leonard. Lonnie Smith- god he was soooo fast BUT crazy. Carl Griffith- could have done alot more then he did. When he took apart the Russian he looked great. Roger Mayweather- very close to being an ATG. Could get VERY lazy in training.
Starling won. Ayers put up a spirited challenge tho. At the end of the day was just that step below. Good fighter tho.
