She's a 135 lb fighter, her opponent Jake Paul would weigh in 180 -190 lbs. Other than Shevchenko I don't really rate any womans mma striking to be honest. Nunes certainly is no Sugar Ray leonard is she. There comes a point in fighting sports where size/strength matter. Once again I realise Jake Paul is a bit of a joke but he has clearly been training for a few years as a hobby/pastime and had a couple of fun fights which he won. Do you honestly think Nunes would beat say some male boxer with a reasonal record of say 16-6 and a journeyman at her weight in a pure boxing fight over 10 x 3 min rds ?
Considering the size difference why then did Nunes not dominate or destroy her. I like many others actually thought Nunes lost their 2nd fight. I think you are greatly overestimating how good nunes is. She can look very good bashing garbage womans mma fighters, there is a difference to then fight even journeyman mens boxers in boxing at 135 lbs.
Agree with this. If he's got some training it makes all the difference. She's probably cream the average joe shmoe off the streets though.
Nunes has improved a lot since then and has grown into the bigger weight class, Shevchenko is too small now to fight Nunes.
The weight class that only has 4 fighters, 145 ? and 2 of them are 135lbers in Nunes and Holly. Womans mma is a joke it's awful outside of about 4 or 5 skilled fighters. I think another fight between Nunes/Shev at 135 would be close again. Shev is the better fighter but due to the huge size difference it evens the playing field. P4p Shev is clearly the better mma fighter imo.
Nunes is the hardest punching female ever at 147 and the best ever at that weight, I don`t think she can even get back down to 135 her body looked strong and muscular at 147, she`d be too strong at that weight for Shev, Nunes would win on the ground with her strength and size or simply out-punch Shev in the stand up exchanges.
She gets battered as he has had some fights and training and is just too big. A journeyman straweight with a 500 record would batter her in seconds as would most men off the street. Skills will get you so far but a mans strength is vastly superior to a woman’s and it would make a difference
