15 rounds would be a long time for Floyd to stay out of Ike Williams way

serious question...why are you bumping a thread that received a response 39 minutes prior? It was still on page 1...I could see if your precious thread had slipped to page 2 or something horrible like that. I just don’t get it

Glad it's not just me who thinks this way.

    It is getting ridiculous.

You said it yourself, it went into page 2, I’d be lucky if anyone saw it, and I know that this is a good thread that should have a good few responses

    Bump

Floyd would win at both weights 10-12-15 rounds.

generally a good thread would have the TS state an opinion if not in the OP at least somewhere along the line. If you don’t believe in your thread enough to even give an opinion I doubt most others will either

edit: HINT- instead of typing bump type an opinion or a response to the response your thread already had received 39 frickin minutes earlier

Mentioning it at 130 is pointless, since Ike only fought near 130 when he was young in fights that didn't matter. 135 & 140 would have been better, although there's nothing wrong with just having the match up at lightweight.

I pick Floyd. Willie Joyce out-boxed Ike with a textbook style and used his jab to offset Ike's combos. Floyd can definitely do this and while there's no footage of Joyce, I'd wager Floyd can do it much better. I'd also wager that he clearly has a better defence and maybe chin, too. I think Floyd out-boxes Ike by staying the **** away from him. I can actually see Floyd going down here though. Ike was a massive puncher and he was taller than Mayweather. The shoulder roll doesn't work anywhere near as well vs taller fighters, and Ike's right hand would be coming down at an angle and would have about seven more power shots after them. He has a chance if he gets Mayweather on the ropes, but I don't think he'd have that opportunity. Floyd should keep him turning and avoid all exchanges. Floyd decision sounds about right.

Also, Ike Williams, while fighting in a fifteen round era, only went past twelve three times. And he lost one of them. Most of his fights were ten round non-title fights. I have no doubt Floyd could have gone fifteen, but in a match up with Ike, it's likely he'd have only needed to go ten or twelve.

Spot on. I think Ike has a good chance though, Floyd liked going to the ropes when he faced someone stronger than him who hit hard and Ike could have overwhelmed him. I still pick Floyd though for basically everything you said, in a series of 3 I think Ike could win one.
