It's difficult to say look at NZ and do what they do as we are a much larger poulation density with a much higher rate of people coming and going. People in this country are selfish pricks and have been screaming and disobeying lockdowns then pointing to countries like NZ and even China as shining examples when they had the most strict lockdowns in the world, especially China. The hospitalizations, intensive care capacity and deaths are normal for this time of year and have been throughout the whole of this so called 'second wave'. Cases keep going up because they have expanded testing and are clearly chasing numbers. The fact they resorted to mass testing school kids just before Christmas to bump up the figures tells you all you need to know. NHS hospitalizations and bed capacity are actually lower than they were this time last year. There is clearly a more sinister agenda at play here but millions of people will just go along with whatever the government and media tells them.
