That's a good point made there buddy. Sparring hard, for the lengths of rounds you have pointed out must take it's toll. Theres a lot of evidence that says headgaurds and bigger gloves like they use in spars has no effect, at reducing the damage, consistent blows to the head causes. Theres a medical term for what we call punch drunk, i cant remember what it's called now off the top of my head (sounds punchy I know haha) but the force delivered is still absorbed whether u have headgaurds and heavier gloves or not. It's direct trauma, like cuts and swellings, fractures etc that headgaurds and heavier gloves are good for. They reduce the direct trauma but the head blows are still the same, and some even suggest that headgaurds, can be detrimental, as they can spread the force of the blow over a greater surface. And also theres more chance of landing. Some hard sparring is needed I agree, as you have to condition your body to the stress it's going to endure in a live fight. But I think that in the U.K, and as you say, also the U.S. The hard spars,is way too much. Anyone that ends up suffering from punch drunk later in life, I bet that most of it is caused through hard sparring.
I'm pretty sure the hard sparring is ALOT of the cause. Think about it. A boxer has 20/25 bouts. He wins 15 by tko and 5 by decison. Loses 5 lets say by decision. Lets say total rounds fought is around 190 rounds. 200 rounds to round it up. That same boxer spars 5 days a week for training for a fight- lets say 10 rounds. Lets say he trains for 2 months and the last month he doesnt even spar only the first month. Thats 50 rounds a week. So about TWO HUNDRED rounds of sparring PER FIGHT he/she is absorbing punishment. So for 2 fights that boxer has asborbed possibly more punishment in the gym then on thier actual fights.
I remember years ago to fringe middleweights from the same gym would help one another get ready for bouts. Now I was a teenager and happened to be in the same gym so I got to watch the 2 spar all the time. And let me tell you they went at it. Bloody nose. Busted up lip. Black eye. The sparring sessions were better then some of the ACTUAL fights I saw on TV. I remember one day after the two had an absolute war while sparring with one another one of their trainers said"man we should sell tickets to these sparring sessions" half jokingly. At the time I didn't think anything of it. That sparring was the norm. Years latter and with alot more life experience Now I think if they weren't getting paid for the sparring what was the point of doing it?
Agree here The no sparring is unbelievable much like the fight, but then again it is Tunde. His had great movement and feints all round then just push his face into Lyndons left not once but twice for good measure jus to test his lion traits. I had it a 6-5 Lyndon goin in the last but should have scored atleast the first 10 10. Tunde rims Yarde up to much but should be more than happy takin his 25 manager cut and shining around the camp, the look yarde gave after the round Lyndon caught him with his no right hand confirmed hes had enough of his shenanigans
As there has been no announcement by now of Yarde leaving Tunde. We can all assume he isnt leaving him. He will have had to make a decision over Christmas, prior to going back into training either late last week or today. I am not surprised.
Tbf there may be other things going on in either of their lives that are more important atm but tbh, when I saw the interview yarde did in got the impression that he won't be leaving tunde. Maybe he is talking to other trainers tho and it's all taking some time. Who knows, till we get a statement it's just guessing
I dont know about that. If you are a professional boxer and you are full time like Yarde is. That means training at least 3 times a week when you arent in camp. So the fact nothing has been announced speaks volumes for me. He will absolutely be in the gym in an official capacity today or tomorrow, and if he was leaving, an announcement would have been made or be close to being made.
He definitely needs a new trainer, but should keep Tunde around either as management/hypeman. The advice Tunde gives is so basic and limited. I sometimes listen to the Tunde & Spencer Fearon podcast. Not a fan of Tunde. Yarde is based in East London (Ilford), so it makes great sense for him to team up with Mark/Jimmy Tibbs. They are based Canning Town/Rainham, so location-wise it makes sense.
Same Rob clearly dangling a bit of bait and milking certain bits but Tunde and Fearon are doing themselves no favours
Tunde mentioned Yarde in one of his podcasts and said he’s gone away for a break and basically they’ll pick things up from there. He seemed fairly comfortable talking about it, which leads me to think Yarde is staying with him.
