I can’t figure him out. On one hand I see a really talented fighter loads of boxing ability, punch variety and skill & ring IQ etc , bags of talent On the other hand I see someone who even with these gifts seeming uninterested to take the top fights, and seemingly a lazy trainer Could he challenge Canelo Alvarez ?
No, he is too undisciplined. After beating Lemieux, a terrific performance, he should have went for the big fights. I remember him saying he didn't want to fight GGG for a few years. BJS will fight Andrade next, a fight he will win imo.
Undisciplined & scared off by GGG & Canelo. At least he doesn't sell himself out for money.. Eubank Jr rematch will be his peak lel.
Waste of talent really. Too bad, I would like to see what he can do as his name gets brought up here a ton regarding who can beat the top dogs at 160 and 168.
His time has gone to be the man at the elite level. At 31 years old with his poor diet and on/off approach to training, and lack of desire he isnt the same fighter he was 3 years ago vs Lemieux. I have seen a number of interviews with him on IFL where he was stated that he was waiting for GGG to get old before facing him. He wasnt joking either. I think he knew in his heart that GGG would break him down and hurt him and stop him. He has had the Canelo fight and GGG fight contracts on the table to sign a few times now, and came out with lame excuses. Instead of facing Canelo last time out, he ended up in the ring with a shot to bits Martin Murray. A fight no one was excited by. His last 4 fights over the last 3 years have been meaningless and is the best sign that he has fallen out of love with boxing. And is more concerned with not losing than he is with earning serious money.
Can't root for a fighter who lacks discipline. He basically admitted to ducking fights... how can any true boxing fan respect that? I don't care for him anymore. He's been a disappointment for the last few years.
He would've beaten canelo 3 years ago, been robbed obviously but still beaten him. Don't think he could now
Tbh, they all thought the same. All played the waiting game with GGG. Little kell gave the green light for them to come out from hiding as it looked to everyone that GGG was slowing down
Reminds me kell brooks career. Fantastic win against Lemieux and instead of going for big fights stateside instead has ducked around and fought nobody’s such a shame
Honest question.. When did he display these skills besides the Lemieux fight? The Andy Lee fight was a dull affair, Eubank fight was decent and I don’t have to talk about his 160 and 168 title defenses.. He really looked great or very good in one fight vs and opponent whose style was tailor made for him to shine in his last 10 fights..
