I see Babic has called out David Price in an interview with boxing social. We all know big Price's limitations but I would really like to see this fight, as he would Babic Babic. His wee frame would not be charging forward for long once he felt the weight and power of Price. What's everyone's thoughts about this possible match up?
Do it, do it, do it. I'll actually forgive Price for all past sins against British boxing if he put Babic in to another dimension.
Price derailed and stopped the Dave Allen gimmick, would be good for him to put an end to another Matchroom hype train...
Probably.. But.. If Brook Vs Khan happens at Welterweight (which it should) then I think Eddie makes Josh Kelly Vs Conor Benn and makes it a co main event.... also throw on Marku Vs Kongo. Old guard going out and new guard coming in, a night of Welterweight action and bitter rivalries.. the event can be called "Settling Scores". throw Babic Vs Price on the undercard and you have a MONSTER PPV event, Hearn will wet himself selling that.
Reason I say Josh Kelly Vs Benn is because neither Brook Vs Khan or Josh Kelly Vs Benn are stand alone PPV fights right now. But combining the two, in Eddies mind they will be and it can be sold as a night of Welterweight action and you have an event to sell.
I know most won’t agree with this but Babic is a come forward aggressive fighter and therefore he stops Price in under 6 rounds. Price post TT deals horribly with consistent pressure. Chisora fought that game plan and all Babic needs to do is do the same. Allen fought against Price like he was in a coma, and failed to apply any consistent pressure. That is why Price looked like a million dollars as he had all the time to fight at his own pace, with very little pressure applied to him. Pressurise Price and you are draining his gas tank, and breaking him down. It only requires 4-5 rounds of high paced pressure to empty his tank.
One of those silly but nice fights if it happens. Price can't fight going backwards, doesn't like pressure, chinny and with stamina concerns VS a little barrel who throws virtually nothing but haymakers, is wide open to a counter, with a decent punch output. I see Babic getting brutally stopped at some point but this would be a fun fight for an under card.
Price would do a demolition job on this pudding. Dave Allen already made the mistake of cherry-picking Price as a highlight-reel KO that would propel him to a fight with Povetkin. Allen naively thought he would just have to windmill his hands from round 1 and spark out the plumber. I'm not ashamed to admit he had me fooled. I thought it was a certain Allen KO. But Pricey put on a boxing masterclass and ended Allen's career. He emotionally and physically destroyed Allen and was the root cause of Allen's meltdown recently. The exact same thing would happen to Babic except for the fact that Babic would be stretchered out of the arena unconscious. We can all mock Price on here as fans for his comedy KOs etc, it's all just fun and games. But these puddings like Allen and Babic need to be careful what they wish for because one right hand from Price and they get a quick reality check.
Big difference between Allen and Babic's approach though. Allen was standing off Price looking for a 1 punch KO barely throwing any punches and putting no pressure on Price. Babic would be walking forward applying constant pressure. Babic would fight exactly how Chisora did. And Chisora was able to very quickly empty Price's tank through pressure and stop him early.
