Deontay Wilder could break George Foremans record...

Wladimir Klitschko??? Have his trilogy with Tyson Fury??? They've only fought once

 

Wlad was outboxed and bobble headed respectively by the current HW champion and the current number 2 or 3 guy but he's gonna comeback older and have the ability to beat both now? Does this really make sense?

 

A boxer, almost entirely based on his athletic prowess, becoming the oldest ever HW champ? Ambitious claim.

I mean, Foreman was kinda slow even at his peak so he had less adjustments to make to accommodate middle age. But Wilder at 46 would be sending that right hand via the US postal service...

 

Foreman's record is pretty secure for the time being. There isn't anyone currently active or recently retired who is going to break it.

Someone basically created this same thread last week. There aren't any names that could be brought up here that weren't brought up then.

As for Wilder, he won't be fighting 10 years from now. The guy has had multiple hand surgeries, bicep surgeries, most recently shoulder surgery.

He's been fighting opponents who outweigh him pretty significantly for the better part of a decade and giving up a lot of weight for years, which also takes a toll. And the opponents aren't getting any smaller and certainly won't be smaller 10 years from now.

By the time Wilder is closing in on his 46th birthday, the arthritis in his hands will be so bad he probably won't be able to hold a coffee cup let alone punch someone in the skull as hard as he can.

What George accomplished, winning the WORLD title (not a paper version) by knockout two months short of his 46th birthday, was amazing. And he didn't come back for some one-off fight to do it. It took more dedication than that.

If at some point there is some "vacant interim regular silver whatever created-for-this-special-event" belt open, and some old guy comes back to knock off a stiff like Charr for it at 46 or 47, it won't be the equivalent.

George Foreman became the World Heavyweight Champion when he was 45 years and roughly 10 months old.

There have been tens of thousands of heavyweighs in boxing's very long history. Only one guy did that. There aren't a half-dozen floating around now who are going to beat that.

So, long story short, I have no idea why there were two threads on this topic in two weeks? (LOL) It ain't happening.

 

I'd say it's actually Joshua who would have the best shot of the current crop of beating foreman, he's got decent fundamentals at 45 he might have it all sussed out properly and understand himself and fighting. I don't think he knows his own limits and strengths and weaknesses yet like say fury. And unlike wilder who will die a beanpole I can see Joshua getting thicker and thicker as he gets older and slows down on the training, his dad looks really thickset. I wouldn't bet money in any of them though i don't think they'd even want to foreman was a one off.

 

If Anthony Joshua is still fighting in 2036, then likely something really bad will have happened in his life which probably won't help.

 

Excellent accomplishment by GF for his age. But as I posted in the other like thread, it was vs. Moorer.
Doubt Moorer would have one belt in this era.

If a mid 40s Foreman was around today could he beat Fury, AJ, even others? I seriously don't think so.
I'm putting it in perspective.

 

Find the right opponent like (Charles Martin for AJ) (Stiverne for Wilder) he could easily win a belt

Fury will always be lurking calling him a dosser though

 

Only record Windmill is breaking is the most excuses given after being outclassed.

 

Foreman’s success in his comeback came from his durability. He would get hit A LOT before getting the ko. Wilders chin would let him down

Wilder wont even be active in 5 years let alone 10 yrs. Hes shot to bits, his aura has gone.
