It's not necessarily the age, it's the mileage on the clock. They've both been around a long long time and been chinned a few times between them. It's clear Brook cannot do the weight. Both have no durability left and people are fatigued with how long this talk of them fighting has gone on, we're sick of it. I'm as interested in this about as much as I was interested in the Tyson v Jones fight. Just two former fighters trying to get a payday in.
Assume this is one of the fights Hearn thinks he can take abroad while the British market is unpredictable...
Waste of time now. Khans had loads of oppertunities to fight brook...never once took it until he looked finished against crawford. Not convinced he made more against canelo and crawford much harder fights he had no chance of winning than he would have got fighting brook. Seen brook looking finished with no trainer/promoter and now looking for a fight.
It's quite alarming to see everyone discussing the mileage on the clock for both fighters. Do you really think either fighter and Hearn give a monkeys about how worn the two fighters are? This is a straight cash out fight and will probably be over by the half way stage seeing as they both dislike each other. Nothing else needs to be discussed about this fight other than how fun the build up will be. Just accept it for what it is. No need to discuss Brook's win over Porter and how he might approach this fight against Khan or Khan's win over Judah years ago and whether he's smartened up or not. No! This is just a fun fight. That's all folks. Don't take it too seriously.
I disagree, we shouldnt support fights like this anymore. As fans we wanted it years ago, now hey are both shot and want people to give them some more money to sail off into the sunset with? Why should our money go to them?
Just shows how bad a state British boxing is in these days for this to even start to be sold as a relevant fight. Maybe 8 years ago it would have been.
Surely Khan is minted and Brook can't be looking for his next meal ticket. I know you can never have enough money.
Brooks had long spells out of the ring and wasted his best years. Pure speculation but I wonder if despite being a world class fighters he's never really made the big money? I cant see JoJo Dan or Frankie Gavin generating huge purses and he probably took short money v Porter ages ago.. A pure cash out fight if it's at 147 Khan wins Brook is absolutely shot to bits. Should have happened ages ago would have been a meaningful fight for either and the looser would still have had options albeit a longer road back to the top. If it goes PPV I cant see too many people buying it. Babic V Price on the under-card would be interesting but this really would be the early 2000 fighters retirement party.
Going by the Crawford fight Brook could well be stopped the first time Con lands one of those fast combinations he's known for, Kell was already finished after the Spence fight but boiling down again to 147 has finished what's left of him.
Its A fight that should have already happened. If it happens now then so what. The winner is going no where and either is the loser. I can see why it didn't happen at the time. Canelo offered Khan a huge payday and brook thought he would go for golovkin because of that. As soon as they both took those unnecessary risks the fight had lost its edge. After that the choices and decisions they took was not very good and here we are with 2 washed up has beens.
I agree, it should have happened a long time ago but for whatever reason (Khan), it didnt. I don't pay for box office fights but I will be watching this and taking it for what it is. Two money hungry over the hill boxers, knocking lumps out of each other. What's not to like? If you, me and about 20 other blokes on this forum don't pay for it, there'll be a whole load of other people who will buy it and will take it for what it is. I wont expect a boxing masterclass from either of them but there will still be a winner and a loser and that's enough for me.
Yeah but that's the issue for me, will they be knocking lumps out of each other and having a proper fight ?? Or taking zero risks until one of them gets their glass shattered possibly by the first solid punch they get hit with ?? Or will Khan take a dive like he did against Crawford or will Kell have his corner throw in the towel as soon as he's in trouble ??
I'd say it will be a proper fight. I could be wrong though! Haye Bellew 1 didn't disappoint for me. Even though many people on here were probably against the fight. It was pure entertainment.
