It’s mind boggling that 14% of them voted for Williams to actually knockout Rocky Marciano. ...absolutely mind boggling.
Address my comment which lacks "logic and critical thinking" instead of making an indirect post like a coward.
If you think people picking Marciano to lose to a man 30 pounds+ heavier, a near half foot taller, faster, stronger, more powerful, and a much better boxer, are only capable of being "haters" you're just as delusional as your mate.
Yeah let’s not look at things like accomplishments, opponents beat, opponents in common, styles, etc. let’s just look and admire Cleveland’s amazing physique. We will disregard common opponents whom have stated Marciano was better and stronger FYI (believe Keene said it can correct me if I’m wrong). We will ignore strength of resume like beating three top ten p4p greats and some very solid serious contenders to one halfway decent win. We will ignore it all...because cleveland is 20 pounds heavier. Now could Cleveland pull out a miracle victory here? Sure it’s boxing but it’s highly unlikely.
I would also add Cleveland wasnt half as good a boxer. Because Marciano wasn’t always orthodox doesn’t mean he lacked boxing skills. Was excellent defensively, had power in both hands, and had a style that often confused the greatest boxers to ever live. Cleveland doesnt hold a candle to Charles, Moore, Walcott, Lastarza in the boxing skills sense.
Nobody is ignoring the Styles Factor, that's literally one of the main reasons Williams is being picked. As long as you have the styles advantage, and the ability to use it, none of that other stuff matters. Look at Tyson-Douglas, Tyson was easily the more accomplished, beat men who beat Douglas, and looked far more impressive doing it. None of that mattered when they stepped in the ring though. Speaking of common opponents, a 19 year old Williams stopped Henri faster than Marciano did. A green Williams, beat Keene Simmons in a lopsided manner, by scores 62-38, 61-39, 58-42. Marciano on the other hand struggled a bit more... "Marciano was in trouble early before winning—and not before drawing some boos from the Providence crowd for hurling a few low blows." But my point is, people who pick Williams over Marciano aren't "haters". Similarly, people picking men like, Lyle, Ruddock, and Bruno over Marciano aren't haters either. They just understand the sport has moved on from people like Marciano ruling the division.
Nevermind, their's no getting through to people like you. I'm not wasting another day or two of my life talking to a brick wall. Goodbye.
Truth is you have no idea what you’re talking about. Are you now claiming Cleveland is a better boxer then Walcott? Charles? Louis? Moore? Lastarza? If so you need your eyes checked. Are you saying Marciano was poor defensively? Because I have stats to back my claims. Are you saying Marciano didn’t have power in both hands? Then you’d be a damn fool. You call lab dishonest. Can’t even admit Marciano stopped Keene when Cleveland couldn’t stop an old one nor do you accept that Keene stated Marciano was the better of the two. But you go on being arrogant thinking you know it all.
You're being dishonest because you know I was specifically referring to the points I bolded. I don't give a rats ass about your stats, especially when you take into account the people he faced where he could show his "defensive skills". Anyone with a pair of eyes, can see Marciano wasn't the defensive master, you're making him out to be. Swarmers like Tyson, Frazier, and Dempsey all had much better defenses, than Marciano. You're either being intentionally ignorant, or creating a strawman. That was NOT a point I disputed. All the points I disputed were bolded. He IS dishonest, and so are you if you're making excuses for him. I've noticed you and few others (because most are already aware of his reputation) always defend him, and always look past it when MULTIPLE posters call him out on his blatant dishonesty which makes you (and them) no better than he is. Absolutely disgraceful. Even if he did stop the 9-22 Keene, he struggled greatly which Williams didn't at all despite being very green (a mere 20 years old) which I noticed you omitted. As for Keene, thinking Marciano was the better of the two, I did not know nor do I care as it's of no relevance as to his performance against both men.
Marciano had better defense then Tyson, Dempsey, and Frazier. And only one who comes close is Frazier. If you don’t like FACTS that’s too bad for you. But you probably shouldn’t LIE about what your eyes don’t understand. And I answered your bolded questions which you can’t answer. I have the stats to back up my statements do you? We also have statements from those great fighters in regards to Marciano. We also have statements from Goldman, Dundee, Lastarza, and Keene in another post all praising Marcianos defense. Try reading what they had to say.
I don’t have an issue with Williams as a person. The issue is his resume against championship fighters. A draw with Machen is never translating into a win over a champion like Marciano.
Klompton and Choklab have an unhealthy and worrisome obsession with Cleveland Williams. This post sums it up well.
