By three types I mean the old guard (Wlad), the current rivals (Wilder and Joshua) and the upcoming young lion, don't know who that may be as of yet, though. Hrgovic? There haven't been many boxers who have managed to do this. Screw "resume depth", I wanna see the best fight the best, not a bunch of opponents a notch or two below them.

By this standard about 60% of the heavyweight champions in history are all time greats

I'm interested. Who does this new standard now regard as an ATG that wasn't considered before?

I don't think this is going to happen. Anthony Joshua isn't going to fight the best.
After “agreeing” in principle to face Fury twice next year, Anthony Joshua says, oops, going to fight Usyk instead. NO Fury fight in 2021 despite his promise to fans!
Attaboy Superstars winner, as Joshua again shows his true colors as he sprints out of a fight he would certainly lose if Fury showed up sober and not weighing 400 pounds.
Please Usyk, step aside and let fury beat the china chinned anthony so we can end this nightmare!

Shannon Briggs was lineal beat George Foreman and Ray Mercer both of whom I would favor to beat Wilder and Joshua. The fact that Wilder is one of the best heavyweights in the world right now should tell you all you need to know about the rest of the division

Foreman and Mercer both shot to **** an Mercer never was elite anyway. I guess you don't understand what I meant. Beating old guard as in beating previous top dog(s). Beating current rivals as in beating current elite.

So basically you've created a criteria that allows you to call someone an all time great. This w as my point.

Mercer was far closer to an elite fighter than Wilder ever was. Foreman was shot but do was wlad.

Wlad was 42 and Wilder is a nobody historically speaking. Beating Joshua doesn't make Fury an all time great by any objectionable measure

Would be nice if he had at least 1 title defence before conferring ATG status on Fury.

Probably both 3-5 tough (top ten) wins away from any ATG comparison.

Some very marginal characters have snuck in to the top ten with the division at a stand still.

Between covid and some untimely losses a lot of them are 18 months or more away from their last win over an opponent with a pulse. Usyk, AJ, Fury, Joyce, all have good ones but I'm struggling to think who else.
