Leonard vs Hagler was not a robbery. It's a close fight that could have gone either way. GGG vs Canelo I and II were not either.
Ggg vs canelo was a robbery in the form that the rightful winner was robbed. If we are talking about crazy robberies yeah, there are way better ones. Pac vs Bradley Pac vs horn Bradley vs prudninkov (the russian who knocked him silly) Martinez vs Murray Sturm vs Murray Sturm vs odlh Ward vs kovalev 1 Salido vs lomachenko (especially the foul play from Salido and not get taking points away for that) Huck vs lebedev Huck vs povetkin Reid vs ottke
The usually merely questionable [occasionally highly questionable, e.g. Holyfield Lewis 1] robberies that you get in big televised contests can't hold a candle to some of the genuinely laughable verdicts you can get at low level pro & amateur fights, nearly always in favour of the home fighter. Years ago my brother in law was memorably the away fighter in an amateur [kick] boxing match in which he kicked the **** out of the other guy for the entire fight only to lose on points. Joshua's gold medal in the London Olympics wasn't on the same level as the worst of these ridiculous homer decisions, but in the gold medal fight I was still pretty shocked by the call, two rounds down at the start of the third, which he then appeared to lose reasonably comfortably, only to get the overall verdict by 'countback' or whatever it was.
foreman losing to briggs. even BRIGGS knew he lost! we slumped to his corner and hung his head. when they declared him the victor and presented him the belt, his name was ALREADY on it! do they have engravers ring side or are there two belts ready?
Some good mentions, but also a lot of fights that were just close, and not out and out robberies. I was expecting more really scandelous verdicts, like: Wepner - Terrell Pintor - Zarate Sosa - Walters Stewart - Marin (possibly the biggest robbery of 2020, on the Joshua - Pulev undercard)
A close fight can't be called a "robbery." Robbery means the boxer who won most of the rounds was the loser of that fight. People get confused with a robbery and a close fight.
People won't realize this as long as their favourite fighters turn to be losers in those close fights. They will keep calling close fights as "robberies." For instance, GGG fan boys were very upset when Canelo beat GGG in the 2nd fight which was a very close one so they still call that fight a robbery instead of a close fight.
I couldn't agree more. If your favorite fighter loses a close fight then it's automatically a robbery lol.
Yea the biggest robbery i have ever saw was Marion Wilson vs Roberr Hawkins. I cant even find the fight anymore, but if im remembering this right Wilson dropped Hawkins and clearly won a decision. I think one of the judges didnt even give Wilson that round or only gave him a 10-9 for it.
Hagler got screwed that night. I also thought he beat Boogaloo Watts also when they fought the first time.
Yes! On the contrary, If their favourite fighters won those close fights then they would not have any complaint.
There is ****tards on here who hate Pacquiao so much they will say that the Horn fight wasn’t a robbery lol
