I mean no one has to accept the fights really, if Povetkin wasn't happy he wouldn't have agreed. Plus he gets an opportunity to earn millions against a guy he's already knocked out.

For me as a fan, I get to see another good HW fight between two top 5 contenders.

Seems like every one wins to me.

All Povetkin needs to do is land one clean shot on the glass jawed Whyte and Captain Snooze will coming knocking on Whyte’s door again. So I wouldn’t count Povetkin out.

No,the division gets held up with this rematch crap

same with the mandos having to sign the same deal

might get the odd good fight to watch yeah but it messes up any natural linage

I'd much rather see Whyte vs Povetkin then Whyte vs a soft comeback opponent.

I'd much rather see Povetkin vs Whyte then Povetkin vs some soft opponent to protect his ranking.

The only guys ranked above these two are AJ, Fury and Wilder.

2 are in negotiations to make the biggest fight in years, the third would be a better opponent for either man, but is he available for either man right now?

    I just enjoy good fights.

I think we all do mate

    Its why we watch

But an eliminator with a rematch clause that was sold all PPV as a final eliminator is taking the mick

I didn't even realise it was an eliminator when I bought it tbh, just saw it was Povetkin and Whyte and thought "that's a good fight I don't mind paying for"

Now I see the rematch and I think exactly the same.

I mean neither fighter had to sign the contract, no fan has to buy the event.

I'm excited to see them fight again tbh.

Why does it have to be a soft comeback opponent?

    Hunters free, as is Ortiz

    Plenty talent out there

The only opponents not named Povetkin who would not be considered softer than Povetkin are Fury, AJ and Wilder.

    Not at all

    Joyce, Hunter, Hrgovic, Parker rematch

All on a similar level as a 41 year old Sasha

Povetkin is ranked in the top 5 in the whole world.

Everyone you have listed is ranked below Povetkin.

Not sure Hrgovic deserves to be listed alongside them, but Joyce Hunter and Parker are all good fights.

Just not as good a fight as Povetkin.

I think it's pointless fighting the lower ranked of two fighters, if you have the opportunity to fight the higher ranked of two fighters.
