I didn`t like Honeyghan`s tactics v Starling, he just kept punching his arms and when he gassed all his trainer Mickey Duff could say wa ''are you tired Lloyd?'' It was the same when Benn gassed v WAtson using the same tactics against the high guard, Benn stated that when he went back to his corner all they could say was ''steam him'' WTF? dreadful.
Anthony Farnell had Tony Bellew, Anthony Crolla, and Frankie Gavin but they all did better after they left him and Joey Selkirk never fulfilled his potential.
There's not much wrong with Don Charles at domestic level. To put him down as one of the worst UK trainers is harsh. Completely overachieved with Chisora, who he helped pretty much win everything other than the World Title.
Bit harsh on Don Charles. I feel like Dave Coldwell is overrated because of Bellew. We will see what he does with his exciting, young fighters in Gill, Richards and Hopey Price.
It’s a bit of **** thread really. Yes some trainers aren’t great but there’s so much to factor in. The fighter themselves being the key thing. If they aren’t completely dedicated and committed then it’s a hard ask to create something special out of them. Selkirk - named above, I trained in the same gym as him 8/9 years ago. He’s an example of an absolute waste of talent. Can’t blame that on trainers and there will be 100s of other fighters in the same boat. Coldwell gets far too much stick on here. Listen he’s not the best coach in the world but he’s certainly far from the “shittest to come out the UK”. Tunde gets **** and rightly so - sometimes. But has he done a proper **** job with Yarde? No. Could he have done better? Yes. A lot better in my opinion but to label him the shittest is harsh.
Apart from doing alright with Chisora what has Don Charles done with any fighters? He's trained loads of other heavyweights and they never get to any decent level. Chisora improved after he left him and got in much better shape. All Charles has done is make a fool of himself at every press conference pretending to be a hard man with his posh accent. He's a **** trainer and a bitter tool of a man, to this day he's still upset and swearing he's gonna get revenge on David Haye! (For breaking his jaw)

Is that you Don? It's a forum you mong I'll post about what I like. 99% of his fighters never got past untelevised york hall goodwins promotions level. I've never met the guy in my life I just think he's a unlikeable twat and a **** trainer if people don't agree with that, that's fine.
The old quote fighters make trainers, trainers dont make fighters spring to mind. Trainers can help fighters but ultimately its down to the product you have at disposal. Plenty of top fighters can get to the very top with average trainers. Not to many average fighters can get to the very top regardless who trains them
Pretty **** thread. Thousands of trainers in the UK and you come up with some names who probably know more about boxing than you are ever likely too.
