I think Haney having a belt is way more of a case of Alphabet boys appointing someone than how Teo got the franchise belt. Like it's fine to call bs on the redic amounts of belts but i'm not gonna make a fighter win 2 titles from the same sanctioning body to be the champ.
Good point. I think we can all agree that there too many belts, especially from the WBC and WBA. And I think it's clear that Teo if THE guy at 135. I'm excited to see Haney, Tank, and Garcia all try and take their shots. Seems like Haney v Teo could happen if kambosos falls through, and it seems like Garcia vs tank is setting up nicely, so winners vs eachother would be a dream. But knowing the alphabet boys some BS will prevent it from happening.
I don't care how many belts there are so long as you win them in the ring. WBC has made the waters so muddy with their ridiculousness, the last WBC champion who got his belt the right way was Loma. Then he got some other belt to make the Lopez fight and Haney got promoted without fighting. In my mind, both of those were wrong. As far as who is closer to legitimate, Haney got his belt beating Zaur Abdullaev and Lopez got his from Loma, so to me Lopez has the much better claim. But the only way to really settle it is they face each other, both of their belts have problems until then.
He's got a belt. Not asking if you think he's a good champ or anything, just if you think Teo is legitimately undisputed, I don't think he is till he fights Haney, for the one and only reason he has the belt. I think Teo smashes Haney if they fight, but they need to fight.
All this should do is make people ignore the alphabet boys. You should either be THE Champion or not, forget the nonsense.
I don't feel like googling so one of you experts help me: Did Loma not win and was the rightful WBC champion until he was stripped and became emeritus, franchise or diamond or whatever? If he in actuality never lost the WBC belt in the ring, indeed never lost at all until Lopez, why would Lopez not be the undisputed champion? Someone being gifted a shot and belt without conquering the person who had it before him (and it was stripped for some unknown reason) is not a "true" titlist by any means to me. I'm a fan of Haney but Teofimo Lopez is undisputed in my eyes.
Lineal undisputed. But according to the Alphabet boys. Haney has their belt. But like everyone seems to agree , TEO is the champ. So I guess that's would be kinda like saying Fury is undisputed because he still has lineal claim to AJs three belts. I just wanna see Teo vs Haney for ABSOLUTE UNQUESTIONABLE UNWAVERING undisputed hahah.
Of course he is. Haney was awarded a secondary belt, these have never been considered legitimate before, I don't understand why they would be now.
Yes, Teo is the Undisputed L.W. World Champion. He beat Loma to unify the world championship belts at 135. I have no doubt in my mind. What did you doubt about?
Well I wouldn't so much call it doubt, I guess it's more a discussion on whether or not you consider the Franchise belt a legitimate world title or not. I don't rate it as a legit world title, I do agree that Teo is lineal undisputed, due to the fact that Loma held the regular belt, then got stripped with out losing. Beat the man that beat the man!! But Haney holds the legit WBC lightweight belt... The one that has always been around, not the one that got created for guys to avoid their mandatory challenges. Like I said that's kinda like calling fury undisputed because he has a lineal claim to AJs belts. For me: Teo = 3 belt champ, with a lineal claim to be undisputed. Haney = 1 belt champ, whether or not you agree with how he got the belt he currently holds the same belt Loma had before becoming "franchise".
