I'm going off memory here but the shot that stunned/wobbled Hagler was the uppercut that Tommy landed on Hagler's forehead , or Hagler's would be hair line .. which happens to be the hardest part of your head ... I think that shot broke Hearns' hand ..But you are right , Hagler took one step back, re-grouped and kept coming ... It was almost fluid and natural as to maybe you not noticing it, Only Hagler would know if the shot really hurt him ,, but it does not seem so because he only took a second or 2 .. and started charging again ..
No Sir, you cannot have it both ways. I agree that if you fight at a higher weight level with similar success in KO resistance, that means you likely have the better whiskers. Although Hagler was so unhurt that you wonder... But no way Chris or Toney either were proven against between many & any HWs, let alone tons of modern SHWs. Someone like Oliver McCall, fighting forever against huge guys & 300 + rounds sparring Mike Tyson & never knocked down has an exponentially more proven chin. You think Toney, even with all the steroids in the world, could have a career fighting these types of opponents & not be down (& very likely out) at least a few times?
The question has no meaning really. Neither could be knocked out in their MW primes and Hagler never proved himself at a higher weight in the way Eubank did. Nobody knows. Both have titanium.
On the subject of chins , there was a rumour Canelo had Dupont Kevlar fibres woven into his beard against GGG. You will notice Canelo wore a beard in both fights. Looks like Hagler got briefly stunned in the opening moments by a short right uppercut and then a looping overhand right. He held on and seemed fine a couple of seconds later and came after Hearns. I’ve mentioned this before when people often say Hagler took Hearns’s best shots and I don’t think he did. Not that he necessarily couldn’t have, but Hagler did a great job at closing the distance so he wouldn’t have to. Hearns was most deadly with that straight right hand when he got some distance for full leverage.
