Spence is significantly better than Lara and the other Southpaw who Canelo narrowly out pointed at Light Middleweight . I agree this matchup will come down to skills. I believe the fight is about 2 years away.
yes, that was at 154, and spence can swim in those waters, but canelo is at 168 now, a comfortable 168.
One of the things I love about Canelo is how he has dedicated himself to his craft. He was talented, worked on his talent and skills now he is so difficult to beat. The mantra “No Boxing No Life” as a philosophy applies well in him.
Going by the resume - Canelo. But at very best he should have 3 more loses in his record, 2x against GGG(both very clean and easy to score fight), competitive, but clearly won by GGG. And you can make a solid case for at least 1 more lose in his record. Also he put the weight heavily into his favor with his antics and short noticing opponents. Still his skills are undeniable.
I've said this here before, It's gonna take something dramatic to overthrow Canelo from #1. Like Usyk beating Joshua or Crawford beating Spence.
I remember when Canelo said during the final media presser vs Kovalev that Beterbiev would be a easier fight but left 175 like a rocket ship right after lol
Beterbiev would run over Canelo and everybody knows it. In my opinion SPENCER is leagues better then Canelo. He won all his biggest match ups without ANY controversy. NONE. Canelos two biggest fights- Mayweather and GGG. He got easily outboxed vs Mayweather. GGG beat him the first time and it was a clear robbery. Thats your P4P?????
Canelo ran straight at the Mayweather buzzsaw. Spence isn't so young or unable to fight at 154 he couldn't have done the same or at least gone after Thurman when he was at his best. I think if Spence beat Crawford and one of the Charlos, that could set up a fight with Canelo himself for P4P supremacy. Canelo has just done a lot, even if he took a close loss to GGG. Hard to say anyone else could get on his level resume wise (besides Pacquiao who he's still chasing).
