Are there any feats that shows he had monstrous power or was he just a decent puncher that was great at fighting on the inside and breaking down his opponents

It depends on what you mean by "monstrous power".

I think dropping Holyfield 3 times in 32 rounds ought to count for something.

Monstrous power as in very notable punching power like rudduck or Like within the top 6 of the 90s

That's not an especially well defined criteria, but I would absolutely say that Bowe figures into my "Top 6" power punchers from the 1990s. No question about it.

If I'm understanding you correctly, you're suggesting that you view Ruddock as one who possesses "monstrous power", but you're up in the air about whether Bowe is in the same league as Razor?

Holyfield classes Bowe and Foreman as the 2 hardest punchers hes faced.

I think a man Bowe's size was heavy handed. I don't think he had the juice of Razor .

It should. Holyfield back then had a great chin, Tyson, Lewis and Foreman didn't dent it.

I get this and agree. Heavy handed and decent power for Bowe, Explosive and a little more power for Razor. But Bowe obviously the better fighter.

    He definitely had good power

But there's nothing to indicate anything in his arsenal was as powerful as Ruddocks smash punch

I don't think Bowe is in the same class of power as the elite punchers

I believe it was Manny Steward (might be wrong) who said that Bowe had incredible leverage and raw power because of his size and reach, but that his punches were often wild and inacrurrate, which took some of the steam off them.

I would say this assessment is spot on.

Baaed on sheer physicality of a fighter his size though, I would say he had the capability to KO any HW in history. In reality though, a good number of them would have taken Bowe the distance

Interesting.. so it has occurred to me over all the years of following " this thing of ours " that when a certain fighter cites an opponent they say hit them the hardest, I sometimes think really ! when I know , or think I know, they fought so and so and surely he hit them the hardest, because he KOd lots of fighters, his KO numbers are huge, his % his high into the 80/90s, so why isn't he quoted as " the fighter that hit me the hardest " an example ( prob lots more ) that springs to mind is the quote from Archie Moore when asked who hit him the hardest, and when you consider he fought Marciano, Charles, Burley, Marshall, Bivins, and many many more hard hitters, his reply was Curtis Shepperd.

Ok Shepperd was not a powder puff puncher, but his stats don't suggest that he would hit harder than nearly all of the above , for instance he stopped 31 out of 55 gives him 38% ratio not bad but not mind blowing, yea the topic of hardest punchers is subjective.
Not sure my stool is laid out right ? but hope you get the jest of what I am eluding to. keep well.

I dont understand posts like this. Your saying guys who claim they were hit the hardest by guys they fought with lower KO % are full of crap because the numbers dont add up. BUT these guys were actually in the ring with these guys and you weren't so I mean WTF your making your own assumption based on the percentages and that obviously doesnt fly here

Steady fella, never said they were full of crap ? I just found it interesting the boxer in question when asked who , SOMETIMES will say that its a fighter that we wouldn't automatically feel is the fighter he would have chosen, knowing as we do, that he fought much harder hitters, that's all , not set in stone, wasn't denigrating the fighter in question, wasn't doubting his word for a second, as you say he was the one getting hit.
So I didn't think I was making assumption's, if it came across like that, then my post was not as clear as I thought it was, as I had said in the last line, over the short time I have been on this site have liked lots of your posts, as you have mine, so don't quite get your confrontational reply to mine ? none the less your points are as valid as mine and anybody else, that said keep well.
