Looking more and more like John David Johnson was speaking the truth about him.

He had his part to play. Weird relationship, I think JDJ was snide and Kov liked abusing him for it. Not professional whatsoever

    Agree.

This is DAZN's way of cutting him out so they dont have to pay him his remaining $2,000,000 per fight left on his total 3 fight contract.

Keeping Kovalev out of action, also prevents him from undermining the high-value wins DAZN "invested in". Kovalev made an irreversible decision to cash-out, he made that decision assuming that he will be able to collect multiple paychecks facing new prospects.

Ped-testing blackmail is a Complex situation, because all top promoters are also comfortable with the PED testing blackmail, its an excellent method to put-down journeyman who accidently gets ranked or win a fight he was supposed to lose.

Also, don't forget that Kovalev was in hot water with DAZN for streaming the Smith-Canelo fight and broadcasting it to 2,500 people. If each person that watched it represented a lost PPV sale then that's hundreds of thousands in lost revenue for DAZN. This could be a reprisal for them in many ways. They are a company run by billionaires so lacking ethics and petty revenge is par for the course for them.

The guy is an uneducated Russian hillbilly who had a very short and incredible prime and amazing power with killer finishing instincts. He was exciting but his mental immaturity means he was always a disaster waiting to happen.

He is better off moving to Russia where he can play the fool

    Good point.
DAZN wanted to get rid of him since they found out he was streaming their events on his site for free.
DAZN is owned by Putin's buddy Blavatnik, who got pissed off at Kovalev for stealing his $.

Kovalev just keeps stepping on his own, now tattered, legacy.
